Brown will close out the 2009 calendar year against the Yellow Jackets this evening, looking to extend its current winning streak to five games. 2009-2010 Schedule/Results Last Time Out: Brown earned an ECAC sweep with wins over Princeton (3-1) 4-7-1 Overall/3-4-1 ECAC/2-2-0 Ivy and #4 Quinnipiac (2-1), stretching its winning streak to four games. The last 3-4-0 Home/1-3-1 Away/0-0-0 Neutral time a Brown team swept a regular-season ECAC weekend was February 1-2, 2008 when the Bears earned a pair of wins over Harvard and Dartmouth. The OCTOBER four-game winning streak is also the longest since the 2004-2005 season, when 30 Showcase at Princeton Brown went 4-0-0 against Providence, Yale, Princeton, and Vermont. On Friday at #9 Princeton L, 1-0 (ot) night against Princeton, Brown was led by sophomore Jack Maclellan, who had 31 UOIT (ex) W, 6-1 a goal, his fourth goal in as many games, and an assist. Senior Jordan Pietrus NOVEMBER scored his team-leading sixth goal of the year, while senior Aaron Volpatti also 6 at Union T, 3-3 (ot) scored in the win.     BRIDGEPORT SOUND TIGERS: COACHES BIOS BRENT THOMPSON - HEAD COACH Brent Thompson is in his seventh season as head coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, which also marks his ninth year in the New York Islanders organization. Thompson was originally hired to coach the Sound Tigers on June 28, 2011 and led the team to a division title in 2011-12 before being named assistant South Division coach of the Islanders for two seasons (2012-14). On May 2, 2014, the Islanders announced Thompson would return to his role as head coach of the Sound Tigers. He is 246-203-50 in 499 career regular-season games as Bridgeport's head coach. Thompson became the Sound Tigers' all-time winningest head coach on Jan. 28, 2017, passing Jack Capuano with his 134th career victory. Prior to his time in Bridgeport, Thompson served as head coach of the Alaska Aces (ECHL) for two years (2009-11), winning the Kelly Cup Championship in 2011. During his two seasons as head coach in Alaska, Thompson amassed a record of 83- 50-11 and won the John Brophy Award as ECHL Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading the team to a record of 47-22-3. Thompson also served as a player/coach with the CHL’s Colorado Eagles in 2003-04 and was an assistant with the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen from 2005-09. Before joining the coaching ranks, Thompson enjoyed a 14-year professional playing career from 1991-2005, which included 121 NHL games and more than 900 professional contests. The Calgary, AB native was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (39th overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

Collins, who was among 10 national finalists for the 2002 Hobey Baker Award as the top collegiate hockey player in the United States of America, represents the third individual in the program’s history to achieve All-America recognition. He joins a pair of former Bulldog defense- men – John Gruden (1993-94) and Andy Roach (1995-96 and 1996-97) to receive AHCA All-America accolades. Gruden earned first-team All- America honors while Roach was a two-time second-team pick. A 2001-02 All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) First-Team honoree, Collins not only earned the distinction of being the school’s first Hobey Baker Award finalist but also the first FSU skater to lead the CCHA in scoring by registering 40 points on 12 goals and 28 assists in 28 league games only this season. Overall this campaign, the Bulldog assistant captain posted a team-best 48 points overall with 15 goals and 33 assists in 36 outings.

The Chicago Pro Hockey League announced its inaugural eight-game exhibition season Wednesday with planned participants including Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Nick Schmaltz and many others. Over 80 players from the NHL, AHL and ECHL are expected to be play in the games at MB Ice Arena, the new practice facility that the Hawks opened in January, as well as a large number of top amateurs from top college programs, junior teams and AAA programs. Kane and DeBrincat are set to play on the same team, continuing their partnership from Team USA’s run at the 2018 World Championships. Brandon Saad, Tommy Wingels and Ryan Hartman will also be teammates again, along with former Hawks forward Brandon Bollig. “The CPHL is a great opportunity for our Chicago-based players to participate in high-level games to supplement their summer training programs,” said Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman as part of the announcement. “I’m thrilled to see so many Chicago Blackhawks’ players involved, and also thrilled that our local hockey fans will be able to visit our new practice facility and see some great summer hockey.” The first game of the weekly CPHL season will be July 11 and tickets will be a delightfully cheap $5 each.
