Miller has remarkably had outstanding careers at both the Sharks and the Bulldogs. The Fremantle clubs will do battle for the 366th time this weekend. The Sharks have emerged victorious in 195 of the 365 battles so far, while the Bulldogs have won 166 and they have drawn four times. Miller played his 300th WAFL game in Round 2 this year – one of the milestones he said was a factor, but not a driving force, in his decision to play on in season 2014. “It felt like a long time coming over the off-season after finishing last season on 298,” Miller said. “Playing the 300th and then the 150th for South were factors in my decision to keep playing but ultimately I thought we could have some success this year and I wanted to be a part of that. “To be honest I made my decision to play on after watching the Busselton Ironman late last year. “My sister Andrea (whose partner is professional triathlete Mike Gee) competed and it took over 12 hours to complete the course. “There was also a guy with one leg who finished the event and that gave me plenty of motivation to keep on playing football.” Miller’s steely resolve after being dropped back to the reserves MILLER EFFECT for the past two weeks epitomises the way he has always tackled his football career. “I just continued playing the only way I know how,” said the father of three. “I haven’t walked around with my head hanging down, no one wins if you do that. So I’ve just gone out and approached my footy the way I always have.” As for the reachable milestone of playing 150 games at two clubs, Miller said it’s nearly as big as playing 300. “To think you move to a different club and basically start your career all over again and then maybe play another 150 games for them, it’s pretty massive,” he said. :: Celebrating his “I would have been happy to play another 100 for South. 300th game “The club has said they will award me Life Membership even if I don’t play the 150, but to be honest I’d like to get there and earn that award in my own right.” The Miller files: WAFL debut – 1999 (In Round 1 playing or East Fremantle against South Fremantle) 1999-2006 – Played 153 games at East Fremantle 2001-2002 AFL Rookie list player at West Coast 2005 East Fremantle League Best & Fairest 2007-present – Played 148 games at South Fremantle 2007 South Fremantle League Best & Fairest 2009 South Fremantle League Best & Fairest 2009 – Premiership player at South Fremantle 2011 – 250th WAFL game on June 26 2012 South Fremantle League Best & Fairest 2013 – 300th WAFL game on March 28 (6th player in WAFL history to reach milestone after Bill Dempsey, Mil Whinnen, Jack Sheedy, Bill Walker and Brian Peake) 5 We’ve become the most popular brick and paving brand because we’re better, not older.
