THE TEN SPOT® came about because I saw a real gap in the beauty business. Before us there were either cheap and dirty nail places, or day spas in ex - pensive hotels that were high quality, but with slow services and a lazy vibe. What’s special about your concept? For one, we exist to make everyone feel like a TEN, so service is top notch. Also clinical cleanliness. Most cheap nail places make you vulnerable to infections and fungus, so people prefer to come to us instead. Lastly, our vibe is current, on point, and fun! Beyond nails, the brand is also well-know for hair removal? We are really famous for our hair removal. Our brazilly® waxing service is for sure a favourite. This September we also introduced the best laser hair removal in the market so our guests have two excellent options. I love the thought that we can help our guests get freedom from daily concerns about unwanted hair. Why Québec? Why Westmount? I love Québec and lived in Montréal for a time when I was younger. It’s amazing, world-class city, and Westmount is so classy and feels like home. Iwas very excited when Navaid Mansuri our franchise partner here approached me about doing 43 locations in Québec. Why do you think the brand has been so popular across Canada? I think we are a brand that really knows who we are, and who we are aiming to make happy. For women with high expectations and aspirations, who are busy, and who enjoy laughter, and current music, and high quality service, we want to make it a TEN for them or die trying. Any advice for other aspiring entrepreneurs? The best advice I can offer to anyone is you owe it to yourself to give your plan A a shot, and if it doesn’t go well you can return to plan B. I hope everyone bets on themselves and takes the leap to what gives them fulfillment. Book now at THE TEN SPOT’s first Québec location at 0145 Greene Avenue in Westmount. For this image, the camera did not have an IR filter and instead a IR-passing filter. A natural light-blocking filter on the lens was used, which results in an image made up entirely from IR light. The filter prevented the photographer from framing the image so a viewing frame was attached to the camera. It also required manual settings for exposure and focus. Photo: Ralph Thompson

At the start of my campaign for the Mayoralty, I set out in these pages my priorities for Westmount. I am humbled and grateful that they have resonated with so many thousands of you. Vos espoirs et votre foi continuent à me guider. I have not only listened to you in my many visits, but I have heard you. And I am heartened that you understood a lesson I learned at McGill Law that sometimes we must speak truths you need to know not merely words you may want to hear. Aujourd’hui, je veux répéter les promesses que je vous ai faites. As a recipient of a Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for the Promotion of Human Dignity, I will continue to be a strong and passionate advocate for the protection of our constitutional ͇͗őǀ͗ưʀǾȖƸ͗ƸɜǀźȨɤ͇͗ civil rights particularly as they apply to the equity and equality of our votes and voice in ²ǀɰ͗ʀɤ͗DzʀǾƸǀ͗źȪƸ͗ưǀ͗ź͗əźɜɰ͗ȵǰ͗ʘǹźɰ͗Ȩźȓǀɤ͗ʣȵʀɜ͗ʣǀźɜ͗ the National Assembly. Having spent a decade as Editor-in-Chief of The Suburban Newspaper Group acquiring experience covering over twenty city and borough councils, I have learnt the ɤəźɜȓȖǀ͇͇ǰɜȵȨ͗ǀʢɰɜźȵɜƸǾȪźɜʣ͗DzǾǰɰɤ͗źȪƸ͗DzǀȨɤ̯͗ɰȵ͗ most effective practices in making regional and provincial offi cials more responsive to local ȵȪƱǀ͇ǾȪ͇ź͇ȖǾǰǀɰǾȨǀ͗ǀȪDzźDzǀȨǀȪɰɤ budgetary and fi scal needs and I will bring that unique experience to bear for the benefi t of ͇͗ǾȪɰǀɜźƱɰǾʗǀ͗ƸǀɤǾDzȪ͗əɜȵƱǀɤɤ all Westmounters. Nous avons besoin de nous rappeler que nous faisons partie d’une plus grande communauté, celle du grand Montréal, à ͇͗źǰǰȵɜƸźưȖǀ laquelle nous contribuons et dont nous tirons bénéfi ce. Working together, we will encourage robust development, tourism and ͇͗ɜǀəźǾɜɤ leisure initiatives and increased parking, so that we may reduce taxes for all from new revenues and refi ll our empty store- fronts. We need urgent road repairs and traffi c synchronization particularly on our east-west arteries, and I will make that an immediate priority. Nous avons besoin d’une approche ferme envers la protection de notre patrimoine urbain tout en tenant contre d’une ap- proche raisonnable pour notre environnement. To that end, I will bring reform and common sense to our building permit process and instill a more reasonable culture at the PAC so that it is in line with what Westmounters need and want. We must help the many tenants living in older buildings with regard to their relationship to the city administration and to service providers and to accomplish this I will name a tenants’ ombudsperson reporting directly to the Offi ce of the Mayor. And I pledge a new transparency in our municipal governance by adopting an Open Data policy on all matters other than those that may compromise individual privacy or jeopardize public security. I ask for your help in meeting these challenges and accomplishing these goals, and trust that you believe as I do, that through our common commitment we can enrich our lives and our community. Je fais appel à votre soutient pour relever ces défi s et j’ai confi ance que, tout comme moi, vous croyez qu’à travers notre engagement collectif, nous pouvons enrichir nos vies et notre communauté.
