This schedule is the same as last year. “Due to safety and liability,” Edwards said, PreK stu- dents will not receive home visits from school personnel this year as they did last year. Teachers will make contact with parents to set up one-on-one enrollment appoint- ments at the schools Aug. 12-13 or will have social workers conduct visits if parents are not able to get to the schools. Staggered first days will occur Aug. 14-16, and all students will be together in the classrooms Aug. 19. With the new enrollment plan, “We are starting every- one a little earlier,” Edwards said. Response from parents is the highest Edwards has seen in a long time, she said, with only a spot or two remaining open per school. She continues to take applications until school begins.
