Now RINA* also released the type design and validation tests certification for motive marine motors. In many cases this FREE certification is sufficient for the final customer, and therefore avoids the need to face the costs of the RINA test of each motor unit.     General Information REGULATIONS The law governing international ship registration in Malaysia is the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952, Part IIC. INTERNATIONAL PORT OF REGISTRY The International Port of Registry in Malaysia is Labuan QUALIFICATION OF SHIPOWNER Ships owned by foreigners or in the case of corporation must comply with the following conditions: 1. Incorporated in Malaysia; 2. Having an office in Malaysia; 3. Majority of directors and partners held by foreigners. Majority in this instance means 51% subject to changes prescribed by the Minister. QUALIFICATION OF SHIP MANAGER The owner of a ship shall appoint a ship manager prior applying for registration of ship, whom shall be: 1. A Malaysian citizen having his permanent address in Malaysia; or 2. A company incorporated in Malaysia and having its principal place of business in Malaysia SURVEY REQUIREMENTS AND SHIP'S AGE No ship shall be registered under Malaysia International Ship Registry unless: 1. Ship is fitted with mechanical propulsion system 2. Ship is not less than 1,600 gross tonnage 3. The age of the ship :- a. Not more than 15 years if it is tanker or a bulk carrier; b.
