Country Superband Lonestar Comes to MSU Riley Center on August 23 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Media – Leading Edges, 601.483.9810, [email protected] Performance – MSU Riley Center Box Office, 601.696.2200, [email protected] Country Superband Lonestar Comes to MSU Riley Center on August 23 MERIDIAN, MS – Lonestar, creators of nine No. 1 country songs, including one of the biggest crossover hits of the past 35 years, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23, at the MSU Riley Center. The show will wrap up the Riley Center’s 2019 Spring/Summer Performing Arts Season. Lonestar has always featured gorgeous vocals. Heartthrob lead singer Richie McDonald’s emotion-packed tenor voice leads the way. Guitarist Michael Britt and keyboardist Dean Sams contribute what one reviewer called “untouchable harmonies that distinguished them from every other band in the late ’90s, and even still to this day.” Lonestar’s deft blending of country, pop and rock influences, along with a bit of Texas twang (all four members hail from the Lone Star State), have kept it at a superstar level for a quarter of a century. Seven of the band’s No. 1 country songs also reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart. In 1999, “Amazed” became the first song to reach No. 1 on both the country and pop charts since “Islands in the Stream” in 1983. Expect to hear those hits as well as cover versions of songs by other artists, such as the Eagles and the Beatles, that let the singers show off those shimmering harmonies. Tickets for Lonestar and the other performances in the Spring/Summer Series are on sale at the MSU Riley Center Box Office and on the website, www.msurileycenter.com. For fans of: Brooks & Dunn, Collin Raye, Tim McGraw Tickets are $64 and $58 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601.696.2200. ### .

  • Cody Collins Bio
CODY COLLINS BIO Cody Collins is living the music industry dream. Born on June 1, 1984 in Dothan, Alabama and growing up in Pensacola, Florida, Cody was a natural-born musician. Singing ever since he could talk. His family recognized and supported his singing abilities at an early age and by 13 years old, Cody was performing locally for audiences at festivals and fairs. At age 15, Cody joined a Country band called McAlyster who were later signed to MCA Records and had some success with the release of single “I Know How The River Feels”. Following the split of the band, Cody moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a career in music and began singing on demos for songwriters and playing locally at famous venues. While performing at Cowboys, Cody was introduced to Dean Sams, keyboardist for multi-platinum selling Country powerhouse group, Lonestar. The pair discussed the possibilities of working together, but never had Cody anticipated the opportunities ahead. At the end of 2007, Lonestar’s lead singer Richie McDonald left the band to pursue a solo career and following a rigorous audition process, Cody was brought in as his replacement. Cody rocked the stage as Lonestar’s lead singer for four outstanding years debuting their uptempo album "Party Heard Around the World". Come 2012 Cody will be pursuing his life long dream of becoming a solo artist where he can fully utilize his talents on the big stage. Though Cody has gone from being the hunk-next-door to being a superstar Country heartthrob, he is still the same down-to-Earth, sweet southern guy, who is grateful that he has been lucky enough to be able to live his dream.

For my first couple of semesters I took art classes like design and drawing, where the main focus was on black and white. This piece, “Red Hands,” was one of my first serious uses of color. I used black and red Prismacolor pencils on sketch paper. I studied multiple images of hands and used reference pictures while creating “Red Hands.” My goal was to give the effect of a liquid dripping off of two hands without defining the hands themselves. S nger Songwri ter SHOWCASE BIOS NOVEMBER 12 @ 8:00 P.M. CST Every Scooter Carusoe song is a beautiful ambush. His genius sneaks up on you: you’re humming along to a melody you can’t get out of your head long before you realize there are layers to unpack and lines worth serious study. Travis Hill “Scooter Carusoe” has lived and worked in the Nashville music community for two decades. He was a cofounder of independent music publisher Carnival Music and now writes for Endurance/BMG Music. Between publishing and song writing he has twenty plus number one songs to his credit and was nominated for the 2018 CMA song of the year with “Drunk Girl.” His songs have been performed on The Grammy’s, CMA’s, ACM’s and received multiple NSAI, ASCAP and SESAC awards. His works have been recorded by Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Uncle Kracker, Dierks Bentley, Sugarland, Chris Janson, Brett Eldredge, Gary Allan, Jordan Davis, Montgomery Gentry, Pat Green, Chase Rice, Eli Young Band, Darius Rucker, David Nail and more. Today, the North Carolina-born, Knoxville, Tennessee-raised Hill lives in Nashville with his wife and two sons. Yes, Carusoe is a pen name, but his insistence on using it reveals a lot about who he really is stubborn and Scooter Carusoe inspiring, always fighting to keep the focus where it should be–the song. Marv Green, a Southern California native, moved to Nashville in March of 1993. Within 6 months, Marv’s songwriting caught the attention of producer Scott Hendricks, who signed Marv to a publishing deal with Big Tractor and Warner Chappell music.
