ANNEX B - BIOGRAPHIES I. CREATIVE/ EXECUTIVE PRODUCER Tan Kheng Hua, Creative/ Executive Producer Tan Kheng Hua is one of the most highly respected and well-known actresses in Singapore’s arts scene. Since 1985, she has been intensely involved in Singaporean television, stage and film productions, of all genres- musical, drama, comedy, devised/ improvisational works as well as physical theatre and dance. Tan also has extensive experience in Corporate Affairs and Marketing, having worked with retailers CK Tang Ltd and FJ Benjamin Pte Ltd. As an actress, Tan has been part of landmark Singaporean theatre productions such as Beauty World (Lulu), Descendants of the Admiral Eunuch (Ensemble) and Lao Jiu (First Sister/Ensemble) for TheatreWorks. She recently garnered rave reviews for performances in Dangerous Liaisons by Toy Factory (Marquis du Merteuil); Blithe Spirit (Elvira) and Animal Farm (Clover) for W!ld Rice; The Blue Room (Model/ Au Pair) for Fiction Farm; Autumn Tomyam (Marge) and Pillow Talk (Best Actress, DBS Life! Theatre Awards) for Action Theatre. She played the lead in a ground-breaking trilogy of plays for W!ld Rice entitled Invitation To Treat – The Eleanor Wong Trilogy and won the Art Nation Best Actress Award (2003). On television, Tan is a household name as Margaret on Mediacorp Channel 5’s hit sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd (Best Comedic Performance by an Actress, Asian Television Award). The National Library Board incor- Managing Editor porated the National Archives of Singapore in March 2013, followed by the AFA in January Francis Dorai 2014. The AFA serves as a repository for films from all over Asia. Many fine Asian films OPINION make their rounds on international festival circuits, winning critical acclaim and awards, Editor but are often not released commercially. Without the preservation work of the AFA, these Stephanie Pee films – which are part of our Asian heritage and identity – might be forgotten or lost forever. Editorial Support 02 The AFA celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, having come a long way from its Masamah Ahmad simple beginnings but always adhering to its mission “to save, explore and share the Art of Veronica Chee My Leap into Movies Asian Cinema”. In this issue, executive director of the AFA, Karen Chan, takes a look back at the AFA’s first 10 years, sharing its vision and the challenges it faces in film archiving.
