(left to right: Ewok axe, Superman III costume and Marilyn Monroe’s dress) Joining the previously announced sale of one of the most iconic sci-fi weapons in the history of film–Han Solo’s BlasTech DL-44 blaster (estimate: $300,000-$500,000) –are numerous Return of the Jedi (Lucasfilm, 1983) original production used props and memorabilia from the third of the original blockbuster Star Wars trilogy. Highlights include an original production used BlasTech EC-17 hold-out blaster also known as a "scout blaster" or "scout pistol" prop weapon used by the Imperial Scout Trooper named "Biker Scout" designed by the film’s U.S. art director James Schoppe and personally approved by George Lucas (estimate: $20,000-$30,000) (photo left); an axe prop weapon used by the Ewoks in multiple scenes during the Battle of Endor (estimate: $8,000-$10,000); five original blueprints used during the production including Jabba the Hut's Barge, the Tatooine Dune Sea and Jabba's Sail Barge & Skiffs (estimate: $2,000-$4,000); a collection of production call sheets and a rare production sign labeled “Blue Harvest,” the film’s fake name to keep its production a secret (estimate ranging from $1,000 to $2,000) and much more from the never before seen by the public collection of “The James L. Schoppe Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Production Archive.” A testosterone fueled trio of motorcycles ridden by some of Hollywood’s most famous rebels will burn up the auction stage including “The Fonz” played by Henry Winkler’s 1949 Triumph Trophy TR500 motorcycle, one of just three triumph motorcycles used in one of television’s longest running shows, Happy Days (estimate: $150,000-$200,000) (shown left); a 1969 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra-Glide motorcycle owned by Marlon Brando (estimate: $150,000-$200,000) and a 1987 army green Harley Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic, with a color matched half helmet and pair of leather gloves owned by Arnold Schwarzenegger (estimate: $30,000-$50,000). A remarkable and intimate collection of personal items and ephemera from one of Hollywood’s greatest screen goddesses reveals the many facets and fashion of Marilyn Monroe. Highlights include a three-quarter length figure hugging black wool dress with knit ballet collar and long sleeves owned by Marilyn Monroe (estimate: $40,000- $60,000); her prayer book for Jewish worship with the cover stamped “Marilyn Monroe Miller” (estimate: $20,000-$30,000); her rhinestone dangling heart-shaped earring with three drops together with two fragment pieces of the matching pair (estimate: $20,000-$30,000) and a pair of drop rhinestone ear clips (estimate: $30,000-$40,000) (shown right); a checkbook for Monroe’s account at Irving Trust Company in New York City, annotated “MM Personal” on the cover offering a fascinating look at Monroe’s expenses from 1961-1962 as she entered the final year of her life (estimate: $7,000-$9,000); a Marilyn Monroe typed, signed check dated May 26, 1961, in the amount of $65.85 paid to Hedda Rosten, drawn from an account at Bankers Trust Company New York (estimate: $5,000-$7,000); an ivory silk Castillo for Jeanne Lanvin circa 1950s gown owned by Marilyn Monroe (estimate: $20,000-$40,000); a full- length black and white studio portrait shot by Bernard of Hollywood, signed and inscribed by Marilyn Monroe as she appeared in a floral corset with lace trim, fishnet stockings and high-heel shoes with the inscription written, “To Carole, It’s a pleasure to work with you/Marilyn Monroe” (estimate: $10,000-$20,000); her black lace padded bustier labeled "Jantzen, original Curvallue, 36B," (estimate: $6,000-$8,000)and more.
