Hemanth Kumar, Executive Secretary Funding Agency : DST, GoI Capacity Building Programs: KSCST has been constantly engaged in conducting varied kinds of Capacity Building Programs across the IP spectrum (Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, Industrial Designs, Plant Variety Protection and Geographical Indications). Direct/formal support in filing of Patents/Trademarks: KSCST has facilitated the filing of three trademarks. While two applications of patent were filed through PFC-TIFAC, twelve patent applications were filed directly with the Controller General, Patents office. Collaborations/Associations: (a) MOU with Cell for Intellectual Property Rights Promotion and Management (CIPAM) Through a MOU with Cell for Intellectual Property Rights Promotion and Management, (CWS) housed by the Ministry Industry and Commerce, Govt. of India, New Delhi, signed in year 2020 for Technology and Innovation Support Center, KSCST works closely with the CIPAM in matters pertaining to IPR of the State and also represents at the various training programs organized and from time to time. (b) Bangalore Bio Innovation Centre: KSCST is working with startups at the Bangalore Bio Innovation Centre for nurturing the IP fabric through periodic capacity building initiatives jointly. (c) VTPC Centre: KSCST is working with Visveswaraya Trade Promotion Center for capacity building initiatives on IP jointly. (d) UN-WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center: Institutional Agreement signed between Department of promotion of Industries and Internal Trade for supporting Technology and Innovation activities. (e) Other engagements KSCST works with (a) Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, (c) IPR Chair, CIPRA, at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), (d) IISC, etc. on IP initiatives Internships: KSCST provides for internship opportunities for Under-graduate and Post- graduate students from various fields of study. The internship particularly includes research on any one field of interest to the students in IPR together with an opportunity to attend several programs conducted by KSCST during those periods. Stipend is also awarded to the interns to encourage them. School programs: KSCST undertakes various programs in schools such as IPR awareness camps, seminars and workshops for the benefit of the students. These initiatives help in capturing the young minds towards IPR and develop their interest in research and development. Beneficiaries: Through the workshops, awareness programs, camps and seminars conducted by KSCST, total of 4365 people are benefitted. New Center established - UN-WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center: Institutional Agreement signed between Department of promotion of Industries and Internal Trade, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Government of India for supporting Technology and Innovation activities on 28 January 2020.
