MEDIA INFORMATION 2018 Welcome to Bislett The Bislett Alliance is delighted to welcome you to for truly world class athletics at the on 7 June 2018. First held in 1966, the Oslo is the fifth event in this year’s IAAF series following Doha, Shanghai, Eugene and . With quality fields in all events, including more Olympic Champions, World Champions and European Championships than ever before, we are set for yet another exciting evening at Bislett. The upcoming European Championships in this August makes the competitions even more important as the athletes are looking to find their best form. The Bislett Stadium is known globally as “the World Record Track”, testimony to the 69 world records in athletics that have been established at this unique stadium. Bislett is equally well known for the electric atmosphere in the stadium and its knowledgeable spectators that encourage and support all competitors. As a part of the ambition of Oslo Bislett Games to become the most sustainable international athletics meeting in the world, all transport is to be completely emission free from the moment the athletes arrive in . Moreover, the athletes will travel by train to the next IAAF Diamond League meeting, Bauhaus-galan in Stockholm. I hope this guide will help you in your work and answer your questions. Oslo Bislett Games er det femte stevnet i årets IAAF Diamond League etter Doha, Shanghai, Eugene og Roma. Det er sterke startfelt i alle øvelsene. Flere olympiske mestre, verdens- mestre og europamestre enn noen gang er klare til dyst, så alt bør ligge til rette for nok en fantastisk friidrettskveld på Bislett med spennende oppgjør og gode resultater. EM i i august gjør at konkurransene blir ekstra viktige for utøvere som jakter mesterskapsform. I år stiller ikke minst en norsk verdensmester på startstreken, , i godt selskap med flere andre norske utøvere som er med og hevder seg i kampen mot den ypperste verdenseliten: Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal, Henrik, Filip og , Isabelle Pedersen, Hedda Hynne og Sondre Norstad Moen. Bislett Games ble arrangert for første gang i 1966, og «The World Record Track» ble etter hvert et begrep. Med sine 69 verdensrekorder er det ingen andre steder det er satt flere verdensrekorder enn på Bislett. Den intime atmosfæren og det kyndige og entusiastiske publikumet bærer utøverne fram til topp prestasjoner. Oslo Bislett Games har som mål å bli verdens mest bærekraftige internasjonale friidretts- stevne og sørger derfor for at fra det øyeblikket utøverne kommer til Norge, er all transport helt utslippsfri, og når utøverne reiser videre til neste IAAF Diamond League-stevne, Bauhaus-galan i Stockholm, skjer det med tog. Please bring an Press Centre USB-to-Ethernet adaptor if your PC or Mac does not have an Ethernet port. The sub-press centre is located at the meeting and media hotel, Thon Hotel Opera. Opening hours Tuesday 5 June 09:00–20:00 Wednesday 6 June 10:00–22:00 (limited availability during the strawberry party) Thursday 7 June 08:00–15:00 The Press centre relocates to Bislett Stadium at 16:00 on 7 June. Press Centre at Bislett Stadium (7 June only) The press centre is located on the same level as the track, two floors down from the entrance, which is in Sofies gate, between areas I and J in the illustration below. Internet access and working areas There is a working area with desk seating space at the sub-press centre at Thon Hotel Opera and at the press centre at Bislett Stadium. Wireless Internet access is available at the sub- press centre, whereas there is cabled Internet access only at the press centre and in the media tribune at Bislett Stadium. For photographers, there are wired access points in the photo tribune and in the photo room next to the press centre.

The cards can be collected at the sub-press centre during the opening hours (see above) except for on the day of the meeting when the accreditation cards can be collected until 14:00 at the sub-press centre and then outside the press entrance at Bislett Stadium from around 15:30 until 19:00. Please note: On Wednesday 6 June, accreditation cards can be picked up at the Strawberry Party at Oslo City Hall from approximately 16:30 until 18:30. For practical reasons, it is therefore not possible to pick up accreditation cards at the sub-press centre at Thon Hotel Opera between 16:00 and 19:30 the same day. Press Photography All photographers with infield access have to wear an IAAF Diamond League photo vest. The names of the photographers who have been given an Infield Pass will be announced in the sub-press centre at the Thon Hotel Opera at around 20:00 on Wednesday 6 June. There will be a photographers’ briefing and handing out of the photo vests at the Bislett Stadium on Thursday 7 June at 16:30. The briefing is mandatory for all photographers with infield access. Please be at the press centre at the stadium at 16:15. Deposit: NOK 300 / EUR 30 (or a similar amount in another currency) or press card. There are no-go-zones for the infield photographers.

Procedures during the meeting Interviews with athletes Athletes will pass through the mixed zone after finishing their event. Mixed zone order: NRK (host broadcaster), unilateral TV of athlete’s country and other unilaterals. Non-rights holding radio and TV, and newspapers (videographers) are given a position in the indoors mixed zone. Press conferences Press conferences during the meeting will be announced on boards in the press centre and in the media tribune. The press centre room is right next to the press centre. Refreshments Press guides will bring refreshments to the commentary boxes before the meeting. Light refreshments and soft drinks are available in the press centre during the meeting.

Oslo Bislett Games Media Kit 1st edition 5 June 2018 Page 6 of 46 Transport to Oslo City Hall and Bislett Stadium Shuttle buses To the Strawberry Party at Oslo City Hall Wednesday 6 June There will be shuttle buses from Thon Hotel Opera to the Strawberry Party at Oslo City Hall at approximately 16:45 and 17:15. The buses leave from outside the main entrance at the front of the hotel and return to the hotel after the event. To Bislett Stadium Thursday 7 June There will be shuttle buses from Thon Hotel Opera to Bislett Stadium approximately every half hour starting at 17:00. Return buses from the stadium from 21:30. Public Transport To Oslo City Hall Oslo City Hall is just a short distance from Thon Hotel Opera and can easily be reached by public transport, be it bus, tram or metro. The journey takes about 10 minutes. Bus Alternative 1 From Thon Hotel Opera, cross Dronning Eufemias gate to get to the bus stop: Bjørvika. Get off at: Rådhuset. Serviced by buses number 32 (direction Voksen Skog) and 70 (direction Rådhuset). Alternative 2 Go the public transport area in front of Oslo Central Station. Bus stop: Jernbanetorget (A). Get off at: Rådhuset. Serviced by buses number 30 (direction Bygdøy), 31 (direction Snarøya or Fornebu) and 54 (direction Tjuvholmen). Tram Stop closest to Thon Hotel Opera: Jernbanetorget (C). Stop closest to Rådhuset: Aker Brygge. Serviced by tram number 12 (direction Majorstuen). Metro Stop closest to Thon Hotel Opera: Jernbanetorget. Stop closest to Rådhuset: Nationaltheatret, which is serviced by all metro lines. From Thon Hotel Opera, get a westbound line from Jernbanetorget. On foot, you will cover the distance in around 20 minutes. To Bislett Stadium The most convenient public transport option is by tram. Trams number 17 and 18 (direction Rikshospitalet) will take you from Jernbanetorget (F), the stop closest to Thon Hotel Opera, to Bislett. The journey takes around 15 minutes. Oslo Bislett Games Media Kit 1st edition 5 June 2018 Page 7 of 46 Travelling to the city centre from Oslo Airport Gardermoen There is an Airport Express Train service from Oslo Airport Gardermoen to Oslo Central Station every 10 minutes. The journey takes around 20 minutes and is the fastest way to get from the airport to the city centre. More information at the Flytoget web site. The meeting and media hotel is right next to the central station (3-minute-walk). Travel time by car is approximately 40 minutes. If you want to take a taxi from the airport, we recommend contacting the taxi information desk in the arrivals hall. There you will get information about the fixed rates of the different companies that operate out of Oslo Airport. They can also book a taxi for you. The taxi rank is immediately outside the arrivals hall. You can usually find a taxi from most taxi companies there.

Train to Stockholm Oslo Bislett Games is aiming at becoming the most sustainable athletics meeting in the world and athletes, coaches etc. will travel by train to the next IAAF Diamond League meeting, Bauhaus-galan in Stockholm Sunday 10 June. The train is scheduled to depart from Oslo Central Station, Friday 8 June at 13:56. A limited number of seats have been reserved for members of the press. The Information Finder Guide Media Information, Start Lists, Biographies, Flash Interviews, Results The IAAF Diamond League has implemented a ‘Go Green’ policy aiming to limit the amount of paper distributed in the media rooms and on the media tribune. Consequently, the following items only will be printed: • Media Information Sheets • One-page-version of the start list per each event • Flash Interviews • Results per each event Media Information Sheets start lists will be available at the press centre. Results sheet and flash interviews will be distributed on the media tribune. Start lists, flash interviews and results are also available on the meeting CIS. information, including the above, will be made available on the meeting website, oslo.diamondleague.com. Under the ‘Programme & Results’ menu item you will find the time table, start lists, biographies, flash interviews and results. Under the ‘Media Information’ menu item you will find the Media Information Kit and Bislett world records and track records. Oslo Bislett Games Media Kit 1st edition 5 June 2018 Page 8 of 46 IAAF Diamond League Road to the Final As in previous years, this season will see the world’s best athletes go head-to-head in a season-long battle in the IAAF Diamond League. There was a format change in 2017, and athletes will compete throughout the year in a bid to qualify for one of the IAAF Diamond League Finals. In each of the Diamond Disciplines, athletes will earn points in either four or six qualifying meets. In the jumps, throws and long distance disciplines, athletes will have the chance to pick up points in four qualifying meets, while in all other disciplines, there will be six chances to pick up points. The top eight or twelve athletes at the end of the qualifying meets will have earned their place in the IAAF Diamond League Final, in either Zürich or . There, they will have the chance to win the iconic Diamond Trophy and a prize of up to USD 50,000. Internett-tilgang og arbeidsplasser Det er arbeidsplasser for pressen på pressesenteret på Thon Hotel Opera og på Bislett stadion. På Thon Hotel Opera er det tilgang til trådløst nettverk, mens det på Bislett stadion kun er kablet Internett-tilgang på pressesenteret inne og ute på pressetribunen. For fotografene er det tilkoblingspunkter for Internett ute på fototribunen og inne i fotorommet ved siden av pressesenteret.

Det kan gjøres på Thon Hotel Opera i presse- senterets åpningstider (se over), med unntak av stevnedagen da utlevering av akkrediteringskort avsluttes på Thon Hotel Opera kl. 14.00 og fortsetter utenfor presseinngangen på Bislett stadion fra ca. kl. 15.30 til 19.00. NB! Under jordbærselskapet onsdag 6. juni vil det være mulig å hente akkrediteringskort på rådhuset fra ca. kl. 16.30 til 18.30. Det betyr at akkrediteringskort ikke kan hentes på presse- senteret på Thon Hotel Opera mellom ca. kl. 16.00 og 19.30 samme dag.

Fotografer Alle fotografer med adgang til indre bane må bruke IAAF Diamond League-fotovester. Navnet på fotografene som får adgang til indre bane, blir offentliggjort i pressesenteret på Thon Hotel Opera onsdag 6. juni ca. kl. 20.00. Det er briefing og utdeling av fotovester for fotografene på Bislett stadion torsdag 7. juni kl. 16.30. Møt opp i pressesenteret på stadion kl. 16.15. Møteplikt for alle som skal på indre bane, også om det er i kortere tidsrom. Depositum 300 kroner, pressekort eller lignende. Det er «no go»-soner på indre bane som må respekteres. Under stevnet Intervjuer med utøverne Utøverne ledes gjennom mixed zone når de er ferdig med sin øvelse. Rekkefølgen på intervjuene i mixed zone: NRK (vertskringkaster) og deretter internasjonale TV-stasjoner som gis prioritet på utøvere av egen nasjonalitet. Radio og TV uten rettigheter og aviser (videofilming) plasseres i mixed zone inne. Pressekonferanser Pressekonferanser under stevnet annonseres på plakater i pressesenteret og på pressetribunen. Pressekonferanserommet er like ved siden av pressesenteret. Bevertning Radio- og TV-kommentatorer med arbeidssted i boksene får utdelt mineralvann og baguetter av presseguidene før stevnet. Journalister og fotografer finner enkel servering og drikke i pressesenteret.

Bussene går fra hovedinngangen foran hotellet og kjører også tilbake til hotellet når jordbærselskapet er ferdig. Til Bislett stadion torsdag 7. juni Det er satt opp buss fra Thon Hotel Opera til Bislett stadion omtrent hver halvtime fra kl. 17.00. Bussene kjører tilbake til hotellet fra kl. 21.30. Offentlig transport Til Oslo rådhus Det er ikke langt til Oslo rådhus fra Thon Hotel Opera, og det er enkelt å komme seg dit med både buss, trikk og T-bane. Turen tar ca. 10 minutter. Buss Alternativ 1 Fra Thon Hotel Opera krysser du Dronning Eufemias gate til busstoppet Bjørvika. Gå av på Rådhuset. På denne strekningen går buss nummer 32 (retning Voksen Skog) og 70 (retning Rådhuset). Alternativ 2 Gå bort til Jernbanetorget, foran Oslo Sentralstasjon. Busstopp: Jernbanetorget (A). Reisetiden er ca. 20 minutter. Mer informasjon på Flytogets hjemmesider. Stevnehotellet ligger like ved Oslo sentralstasjon (3 minutter å gå). Det tar ca. 40 minutter å kjøre fra Gardermoen til Oslo sentrum. Hvis du skal ta taxi fra flyplassen, anbefaler vi at du oppsøker taxiskranken i ankomsthallen. Der har de oversikt over fastpriser for de ulike selskapene som kjører fra Oslo Lufthavn. De er også behjelpelige med å bestille drosje. Taxiholdeplassen finner du rett utenfor ankomsthallen på flyplassen. Oslo Bislett Games Media Kit 1st edition 5 June 2018 Page 15 of 46 IAAF Diamond League Veien til finalen IAAF Diamond League er en serie friidrettsstevner der utøverne kjemper hele sesongen om diamanttrofeet. Fra 2017-sesongen ble formatet endret slik at utøverne bruker de 12 første stevnene til å kvalifisere seg til IAAF Diamond League-finalen. Utøverne har henholdsvis fire og seks kvalifiseringsstevner på å skaffe seg nok poeng til å komme til finalen. I hopp- og kastøvelsene og på langdistanseløp har utøverne fire mulig- heter til å ta poeng, mens det i alle andre øvelser er seks muligheter. Det gis åtte poeng for førsteplass, sju for andre og så videre ned til åttendeplassen som gir ett poeng. De åtte eller tolv beste i hver øvelse går til IAAF Diamond League-finalen, enten i Zürich eller Brussel. Der får de muligheten til å bli kåret til IAAF Diamond League-mester, vinne det ettertraktede diamanttrofeet og motta en premie på USD 50 000. Oslo Bislett Games Media Kit 1st edition 5 June 2018 Page 35 of 46 Bislett Stadium – The world record track Athletics Meetings at Bislett Stadium The first meetings The first international athletics meeting was held at Bislett in 1924. Torshaug IF staged big events called "the Americans meetings" from 1924 to 1937. The first world record at Bislett was actually set at the first meeting. The Dutch Adriaan Paulén (1903-1985) clocked the time of 63.8 in 500m in 1924. A total of 12 official and 2 unofficial world records were set at these early meetings. In 1946, the European Athletics Championships were held at Bislett. Between 1947 and 1965, a number of different organisers staged the meetings, and the meetings had a variety of names. During this period, Bislett's collection of official world records increased from 14 to 30. Today, we can proudly say that Bislett Stadium is worthy of being called “the World Record Track”. No less than 65 world records have been set at the stadium. Adding the 4 junior world records brings the total to 69. The founding of the Bislett Alliance On several occasions, the meetings produced large financial deficits. Considerable financial means was used to attract the best athletes, and the weather wasn't always cooperative. Hoping that they by joining forces and splitting the risks could work on a much larger scale than before, the three athletics associations BUL, Vidar and Tjalve in 1965 formed the Bislett Alliance. In 1965, Tjalve staged its anniversary event, where of set a new world record in the 10,000m, and from 1966 onwards the Bislett Alliance has been organising the Bislett Games. In the first years, there were two meetings a year, but then just one meeting in the summer. World records were broken on a regular basis, and Bislett and the games became known all over the world. In 1999, the magazine Sports Illustrated ranked Bislett Stadium as the fifth best sports venue of the 20th century. In 1993, the Bislett Alliance together with Zurich, Brussels and Berlin formed the meeting series . In 1998, more meetings were added to the series and it changed its name to the Golden League. The very first Golden League meeting was held at Bislett on 9 July 1998 and the last one on 3 July 2009. As of the 2010 season, a new athletics World Series consisting of 14 meetings was set up. It was called the Diamond League and the Bislett Alliance played a role in forming the series together with the 14 other organisers and the international athletics federation (IAAF). Arne Haukvik and the Strawberry Party Arne Haukvik became the driving force behind the Bislett Alliance meetings. As a keen member of the Bondeungdomslaget (BUL), he had taken part in the organising of athletics meeting since his return from the in 1955. It was also Arne Haukvik who started the tradition with the strawberry parties. Haukvik was Ron Clarke's manager and had much contact with the Australian. Clark brought his family

There he served strawberry with cream - a traditional Norwegian summer dish. And the journalists who came to talk to Clark were of course given the same treatment. Little by little the strawberry party became an official press meeting for athletes, journalists and everyone that held positions in athletics, as well small and big celebrities. The parties were held in Haukvik's garden at Økern in Oslo up until 2000, and from 2001 they have been held at the Oslo City Hall. Arne Haukvik passed away in 2002 and did not get to see the great new stadium that opened on 29 July 2005. The Bislett Stadium The early years At the end of the nineteenth century, the area where the Bislett Stadium is today was used by Bislett Tæglverk (brick works). In 1898, the municipality of Oslo bought 60,000 m2 from the brick works to provide an area for sports and games for the North Eastern parts of the town. This area was already much used by the youngsters in the area for physical activities both summer and winter. In 1907, the sports man Martinius Lørdahl applied for permission to erect a sports house on the site, and then most of the area was handed over to organised sports activities. For the first time the area is called a sports arena ("Bislæt idrætsplads"). Martinius Lørdahl (1873- 1933) is considered one of the main enthusiasts behind making Bislett an arena for organised sports activities, and a square outside the stadium has been named after him. The opening of the sports arena took place with many festivities in 1908. The circumference of the field was 300 m, and the facilities are described as a pavilion with dressing rooms for men and women plus a rest room. A new arena in 1917 In 1917, work started to build a completely new sports arena. A larger club house was built, as well as training facilities for boxing and wrestling, dressing rooms, showers and a café. A covered tribune was also erected. The arena was opened in 1922. The first tribunes as well as the roof over the tribune on the back strait (Store Stå) were made of wood. Between 1935 and 1939, the tribunes were rebuilt to make room for 32,000 spectators. In 1938, all the wooden constructions were torn down and the stadium was rebuilt in concrete in 1940. Architect Frode Rinnan was in 1938 asked to build a new stadium. The old club house was embedded in the concrete, functionalistic building of Rinnan. For the sixth in 1952, Rinnan was assigned the job of upgrading Bislett, and both the opening and closing ceremonies of the winter games took place at the stadium. In 1984-85, the tribunes, showers and dressing rooms were modernised. The prominent club house was put up and a new glass-walled press tribune was built. In 1922, the whole of the field was covered by gravel. The area inside of the running lanes got a turf surface between

The old Bislett Stadium had only six running lanes, and for the meeting in 2003 two additional lanes were built on the inside of the home strait by converting the long jump pit to make room for 8 runners in the 100m. Building the new stadium On 2 June 2004, the first construction machinery entered the Bislett Stadium. In the preceding decade there had been much public debate about whether to refurbish the existing stadium or build a new one. Now it had finally been decided that there would be a completely new stadium. A new stadium was built in 10 months and was officially opened for the Bislett Games on 29 July 2005. The stadium complies with international standards for athletics arenas and with national standards for football at the top level. The architects behind the new stadium are Arkitektfirmaet C. F. Møller. The architectural solution for the project was founded on the goal that the unique relationship between the sports arena and the city should be kept. The structure of the arena gives the Bislett Stadium an intimate feeling. The walls are not formed by the tribunes, but by the surrounding buildings. Two corner buildings, at Bislett plass and Lørdahls plass, are also part of the stadium. In February 2010, the indoor running track and the insulation had come full circle. For Norwegian athletics, it provides training facilities never before available in Oslo. Torshaug IF arrangerte store stevner som ble kalt «amerikanerstevner» fra 1924 til 1937. Den første verdens-rekorden ble satt på det første stevnet. I 2012 er antallet verdensrekorder kommet opp i 69. Bislett Alliansen dannes Flere ganger gikk stevnene med dundrende underskudd. Det ble satset hardt økonomisk for å få med de beste, og værgudene var ikke alltid like samarbeidsvillige. Som en konsekvens av dette dannet de tre klubbene BUL, Vidar og Tjalve i 1965 Bislett Alliansen, og håpet at de ved å samle kreftene og ressursene og dele risikoen kunne satse i langt større skala enn før. I 1965 holdt Tjalve sitt jubileumsstevne, der Ron Clarke satte verdensrekord på 10 000 m, og fra 1966 arrangerte Bislett Alliansen Bislett Games. De første årene var det to stevner hvert år, men etter hvert ble det ett stevne om sommeren. Det ble satt jevnt og trutt med verdensrekorder, og Bislett og stevnet ble kjent over hele verden. Sports Illustrated kåret i 1999 Bislett stadion til verdens femte beste idrettsarena i det 20. århundre. I 1993 gikk Bislett Alliansen sammen med Zurich, Brussel og Berlin og dannet stevnekjeden Golden Four. I 1998 ble kvartetten utvidet og navnet endret til Golden League. Det aller første Golden League-stevnet gikk på Bislett 9. juli 1998, og det siste ble arrangert 3. juli 2009. Fra 2010-sesongen ble serien utvidet til 14 stevnet og fikk navnet Diamond League. Bislett Alliansen var med på å utvikle formatet sammen med de andre arrangørene og det internasjonale friidrettsforbundet. Arne Haukvik og jordbærselskapet Arne Haukvik ble primus motor for Bislett-alliansens stevner. Han hadde som ivrig medlem i Bondeungdomslaget (BUL) vært med å arrangere friidrettsstevner fra han kom tilbake fra USA i 1955. Det var også Arne Haukvik som startet tradisjonen med jordbærselskap, og som med så mye annet, begynte også dette i det små. Haukvik var Ron Clarkes manager og hadde mye kontakt med australieren, som hadde familien sin med seg til Europa når han konkurrerte. Og siden barna deres var jevngamle, inviterte Haukvik Ron Clarke og familien hjem til seg og serverte jordbær og fløte samt tradisjonell norsk sommermat. Og journalistene som kom og ville snakke med Clarke, fikk selvsagt også smake, og etter hvert ble jordbærselskapet et

Selskapene ble frem til 2000 holdt i Haukviks hage på Økern, men fra 2001 er de blitt holdt i Oslo rådhus. Der har antallet stjerner og journalister bare fortsatt å øke, og med ordføreren som vert har tradisjonen blitt videreført på rådhuset. Arne Haukvik falt fra i 2002 og fikk aldri gleden av å oppleve åpningen av det nye stadionet 29. juli 2005. Historien om Bislett stadion Området hvor Bislett stadion står, ble opprinnelig brukt av Bislet Tæglverk. Da er vi tilbake til slutten av det nittende århundret. I 1898 kjøpte Oslo kommune et område på 60 000 m2 av teglverket for å skaffe de nordøstlige bydelene en idretts- og lekeplass. Dette området var allerede mye brukt av ungdom til fysisk aktivitet både sommer og vinter. I 1907 søkte idrettsmannen Martinius Lørdahl om å få oppføre et sportshus på plassen, og da ble mesteparten av arealet overlatt til organisert idrettsvirksomhet. For første gang omtales eiendommen som «Bislæt idrætsplads». Martinius Lørdahl (1873-1933) regnes som en av pådriverne for å skape forhold for organisert idrettslig aktivitet på Bislett og har fått en plass utenfor stadion oppkalt etter seg. Åpningen av banen foregikk med stor festivitas i 1908, og banen hadde en omkrets på 300 m. Ny stadion i 1917 Forholdene på plassen var ganske enkle de første årene, men så tidlig som i 1913 ble det spilt landskamp mot Sverige på Bislett. I 1917 gikk kommunen i gang med å bygge en helt ny idrettsplass. Det ble oppført en større klubbygning med treningslokale for boksing og bryting, garderober, dusj og kafé, og det ble satt opp en stor overbygd tribune. Banen ble tatt i bruk i 1922. Hovedtribunen foran klubbhuset og tribunen i søndre sving ble reist til VM på skøyter 1925. Både de første tribunene og taket over Store Stå var av treverk. Mellom 1935 og 1939 ble tribunene lagt om slik at det ble plass til 32 000 tilskuere. I 1938 ble så trekonstruksjonene revet i sin helhet, før stadion gjenoppstod i betong i 1940. Arkitekt Frode Rinnan i oppdrag å bygge en ny stadion i 1938. Klubbhuset ble bygget inn i Rinnans funksjonalistiske anlegg i betong. Til de 6. vinterolympiske leker i Oslo i 1952 fikk Rinnan i oppdrag å oppgradere Bislett, og arenaen var både åpnings- og avslutningsarena under vinterlekene. I 1984-85 ble tribuneanlegg, dusj og garderober modernisert. Det markante klubbhuset ble bygd, og det ble laget en ny pressetribune med glassvegger. I 1922 var hele banen gruslagt. Det ble lagt gress på innerbanen mellom 1935 og 1939, og i 1971 fikk løpebanene kunststoffdekke. Dette ble senere fornyet i 1984-84. Bislett har aldri hatt flere enn seks løpebaner, som er minst to for lite for internasjonale krav de senere årene. Før stevnet i 2003 ble det bygd ut to løpebaner til på oppløpssiden ved at man tok av lengdegropa på innsiden, slik at man fikk plass til 8 100-meterløpere.

Oslo Bislett Games Media Kit 1st edition 5 June 2018 Page 40 of 46 Bygging av ny stadion I 2004, etter lang politisk dragkamp om riving eller ombygging av eksisterende stadion, ble det til slutt gitt klarsignal for riving. Den 2. juni 2004 rullet de første anleggsmaskinene inn på Bislett stadion og et nytt stadion gjenoppstod på 10 måneder. Den offisielle åpningen foretas på Bislett Games 29. juli 2005. Nye Bislett stadion får kapasitet til ca. 15 100 tilskuere. Anlegget oppfyller internasjonale krav til friidrettsanlegg og nasjonale krav til fotballanlegg i eliteserien. Nye Bislett Stadion er tegnet av Arkitektfirmaet C. F. Møller. Utgangspunktet for prosjektets arkitektoniske løsning har vært ønsket om å bevare det unike forholdet som i dag eksisterer mellom idrettsarenaen og byen. Ved å dreie stadion i nordøstlig retning i forhold til det gamle anlegget optimaliseres antallet tribuneplasser. Samtidig økes banearealet fra 6 til 8 baner, uten at det verdifulle samspillet med omgivelsene går tapt. I 2010 var en komplett innendørs løpebane ferdig, og det gir utrolig fine treningsforhold for norske friidrettsutøvere. Kvalifiseringskriterier:

• Norge sender utøvere kun basert på resultatkrav. Kvalifisering basert på plassering i EAA Premium / Classic-stevner eller E-cup 10.000m vil kun bli vurdert i særskilte tilfeller, f.eks. ved sykdom/skade som åpenbart har hindret oppnåelse av resultatkrav innen fristen. • Norge kan melde på inntil 5 i hver øvelse, men kun 3 kan stille, ( + «Wild card» Filip Ingebrigtsen på 1500m - betyr at 4 kan stille på den distansen). • I kappgang godtas også resultater for 20km og 50km på bane. • EA forbeholder seg retten til å invitere ytterligere utøvere, hvis måltallet i en øvelse eller flere ikke synes nådd innen ordinær påmeldingsfrist. NFIF vil vurdere disse i hvert enkelt tilfelle hvis det kommer slik invitasjon til norske utøvere. Disse må uansett også innmeldes innen ordinær frist, 30.07.2018 klokken 14:00. • Kvalifiseringsperioden 01.01.2018 til 29.07.2018 med unntak av stafett som er 22.07.2018.

Resultater oppnådd i 2017 kan i spesielle tilfeller benyttes av utøvere som allerede har oppnådd kravet i en annen øvelse i ordinær kvalifiseringsperiode.
