SEC SUCCESS Rick Stansbury, a longtime SEC head coach, has continued his success against the league at WKU. The Hilltoppers are 3-1 with three straight wins against SEC competition under Stansbury, with wins over Alabama (on Dec. 19) and twice over Arkansas (at home in 2019 and on road in 2018). Stansbury’s only loss to a SEC foe while at WKU was a 59-56 road loss at Missouri in his first season. WKU is 4-1 overall in its last five games against the SEC, including a road win at Ole Miss in 2014.

Oldham’s impact on WKU was so far-reaching that the court at E.A. Did- dle Arena was named in his honor on Dec. 27, 2012.

Oldham left his mark on Hilltopper Basketball in each of his roles, earn- ing All-America accolades as a player in 1949 and later coaching some of the greatest teams in WKU history.

Oldham, a native of Hartford, Ky., came to WKU in 1942 to play bas- ketball for Coach E.A. Diddle after earning All-State honors at Hartford High School. After his freshman season at WKU, Oldham served in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II.
