George Bullivant was presented with a framed Certificate recognising his invaluable knowledge and contributions, with over ? years service. Paulette Simkin, who was also a Clerk to the Parish Council for many years as well as being a Councillor, was presented with a copy of The Local Government Act 1972 in recognition of her career in local Government. Cllr Simkin also presented the Parish Council with a ‘masonic hammer’ in recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Parish Council. The Parish Council also said farewell to Carole Evans, who was also a representative for the Council on the Satis House Patient Participation Group. Councillors purchased Carole some gift vouchers as a farewell gift. Parish Council Elections North Warwickshire Borough Council has received notification of an uncontested election for the parish of Curdworth. This means that Alan Vaughton, Mark Weatherley, Bill Thomas, Richard Habgood and Anne Rimmer have all been re-elected from May for a further Term of Office of 4 years. This also means that there will be two casual vacancies on the Parish Council and the appropriate notices regarding these will be issued in May, with details of how to apply for any residents who may wish to become a Parish Councillor. 3 To advertise in next months edition contact us at [email protected] Damaged Signage Cllr Vaughton has once again been in contact with Warwickshire County Highways (Lighting) regarding the damaged illuminated ‘Give Way’ sign at the Coleshill Road / Kingsbury Road junction. Unfortunately there is only 1 engineer currently covering the Rugby, Nuneaton and North Warwickshire areas who is working hard addressing a backlog of work, and assured the Council that the repairs will be done in due course. Village Maintenance The Parish Council will be looking at whether to purchase some new dog waste bins and grit bins in the new financial year. Timber posts have been ordered for the repair of the Kissing Gate into Breeden Drive. Many thaniks to Derek Smith for the repair of the metal Kissing Gates. A Rimmer 4 Birmingham Airport The Civil Aviation Authority has now approved the proposed new departure procedures for aircrafts departing from Runway 33 at Birmingham Airport, a copy of the formal decision setting out the approval and conditions can be read at http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/Birmingham%2033%20Airspace%20 Change%20Decision%20FINAL.pdf One of the conditions of the approval specifies that “In addition to the normal requirements of the Post Implementation Review, the sponsor will specifically examine the effects of the changes on both Castle Bromwich and Curdworth, to ascertain that what has been proposed does not adversely affect those communities outside the considerations of the consultation process”. Further clarification is being sought regarding what this involves. The Parish Council wish to thank all the residents who signed the petition organised by the Parish Council and also recognise the hard work also put in by the residents in Castle Bromwich. Joint partnership working has ensured that residents voices were heard collectively and taken into account as part of the consultation and decision making process. Use Of Football Pitch Following a number of years of unsuccessfully securing use of the football pitches by a regular team, the Parish Council were pleased to be approached by Castle Vale Town Football Club who are interested in using and developing the facilities on the playing fields. The Parish Council has agreed to meet with them to discuss their proposals before considering at a full Parish Council meeting. Neighbourhood Planning Many thanks to the residents who attended the recent Annual Parish meeting, at which the subject of a Neighbourhood Plan for Curdworth was discussed. A number of residents came forward as volunteers and it was agreed that a further meeting for residents would be arranged in due course. The Parish Council would also be discussing the matter further. 5 To advertise in next months edition contact us at [email protected] Volunteers wanted - Curdworth Community Heartbeat Residents will be pleased to see that our village Defibrillator is now installed within the Telephone Box in front of the Post Office, and it is just waiting for some final technical checks to be undertaken before being fully operational. The Curdworth Community Heartbeat Committee are now in the process of setting up training for the use of the equipment, which is very simply and easy to use. If you are interested in attending the training to become a volunteer please contact Jan Weatherley on 01675 470714. There may be some residents who would just like to attend the training to learn more, without committing to becoming a volunteer at this stage, if so please feel free to register your interest with Jan. Remember “You don’t have to be a fireman to use a fire extinguisher, you don’t have to be a paramedic to use a defibrillator.” We also need a group of volunteers to take part in a rota to check the equipment is working – again this is a short and simple check which takes no more than a few minutes. It is, however, vitally important that the equipment is kept in working order and you will be trained how to do the checks. It has taken a while to get the funding together to fund the purchase of this equipment, and many thanks to the team of volunteers on the Committee who have worked hard to get up to this stage. As a rural village in North Warwickshire, access to such life saving equipment is very important to residents - early de-fibrillation can increase the survival chances of a person who has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest by as much as 50%? It could mean the difference between life and death. [email protected] Wise Creations create and produce The Curdworth Crier.
