The gray filly negotiated the hike into stakes competition with aplomb, taking the Sept. 23 Belle Cherie S. by 7 1/2 lengths despite drifting out badly in the final stages. A bit slow to leave the gate, Dance Card pressed forward to lead entering the clubhouse turn and set a comfortable tempo while chased by My Wandy=s Girl, back just nine days after a victory in the Pentelis S. Dance Card traveled smoothly on the turn and got the better of My Wandy=s Girl at the quarter pole, then held safe to the wire despite failing to keep a straight path in the stretch yet again. Perhaps the lesser-preferred of a Mike Repole-owned and Todd Pletcher-trained entry, Overanalyze belied doubts about his ability to stay this distance to photo a game Normandy Invasion in the Remsen. One of a plethora of debut winners for this barn at Saratoga Aug. 9, the bay colt could do no better than fourth behind champion-elect Shanghai Bobby (Harlan=s Holiday) in the GII Three Chimneys Hopeful S. at Saratoga Sept. 3. The bay overcame some trouble at the start en route to a sweeping 3 1/4-length victory in the GII Futurity S. at Belmont Sept. 30, but was exiting a distant third-place effort behind Uncaptured (Lion Heart) in Churchill=s GIII Iroquois S. Oct. 28. Three wide out of the stretch for the first time, Overanalyze tugged Ramon Dominguez up into a stalking second as stablemate Delhomme laid down the fractions up front. Overanalyze still had the pacemaker to catch leaving the quarter pole, but both had Normandy Invasion to worry about, as the Fox Hill runner stormed into contention three wide in upper stretch and looked to have all the momentum. Overanalyze looked a bit one- paced inside the final furlong, but finally drove past Delhomme and outslugged Normandy Invasion to the wire.

Back on just 15 days= rest, Unlimited Budget kicked off a wildly successful afternoon for Team Repole with this front-running victory. Almost in spite of himself, Repole signed the ticket on the Florida-bred filly after she breezed a quarter-mile in :21 3/5 ahead of the OBS March Sale (see related story) and she was brought along slowly by trainer Todd Pletcher. Dismissed at odds of 7-1--double her morning line--for her Nov. 9 debut over a mile of this main track, the bay tracked the pace and stormed away to score by 9 1/2 lengths, earning J “TDN Rising Star” J honors. Ridden for speed here by John Velazquez, the even-money second choice showed the way early through even fractions from Giant Cats Eye and a rail-skimming Emollient, who took a late hit into 4-5 favoritism. Velazquez allowed Unlimited Budget to set the pace in about the two path, and Junior Alvarado bit hook, line and sinker, attempting to send Emollient through an inviting opening at the fence at about the 4 1/2-furlong point. But Unlimited Budget quickened into the turn and though she began to look for the wire about a furlong out, held sway late over a green Emollient. AYou=re always concerned running back a little quick, but she seemed to bounce out of the race pretty well, physically and mentally,@ Pletcher explained of the decision to race right back. AShe did everything right, never seemed to turn a hair, and came back with a really good work the other day. We felt it was a calculated risk.
