Aug 30 @ Alberta 7 p.m. MT After a season for the history books – an undefeated 8-0 record highlighted by stellar play on offence, Sept. 6 MANITOBA 5:30 p.m. MT including the Hec Crighton winner and a new U SPORTS single-season passing record – the University of Sept. 14 @ UBC 3 p.m. PT Calgary Dinos’ 2018 campaign was unceremoniously snuffed out by the Saskatchewan Huskies in the Sept. 20 REGINA 7 p.m. MT Sept. 27 @ Saskatchewan 7 p.m. MT 82nd Hardy Cup last November at McMahon Stadium. The bitter taste of that defeat has stuck with the Oct. 5 ALBERTA 1 p.m. MT Dinos throughout the off-season. Oct. 19 @ Manitoba 1 p.m. MT The Dinos will get the chance to finally put that game behind them when they step on the field for real as Oct. 26 UBC 3 p.m. MT they visit the Alberta Golden Bears to open the 2019 Canada West football season Friday night in Edmonton. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT, live on CanadaWest.tv presented by Co-op. 2019 ALBERTA SCHEDULE (0-0) All times local; home games BOLD Perhaps lost in the 2018 season’s end was just how impressive the campaign had been to that point. With one of the youngest lineups in Canada, the Dinos averaged better than 42 points per game and Aug. 30 CALGARY 7 p.m. MT Sept. 6 @ Regina 7 p.m. MT racked up more than 4,500 offensive yards in eight contests, all while allowing just 17 points per outing. Sept. 13 MANITOBA 7 p.m. MT Five Dinos were crowned first team All-Canadians, led by Hec Crighton winner Adam Sinagra at Sept. 21 SASKATCHEWAN 1 p.m. MT quarterback, with Calgary picking up 11 of the 27 positions available on the Canada West all-star team. Sept. 28 @ UBC 4 p.m. PT Oct. 5 @ Calgary 1 p.m. MT With a couple exceptions on defence, the entire group is back, a year older and more experienced, Oct. 19 REGINA 1 p.m. MT ready to take the next step.     PASSION DRIVE PERFORMANCE TH ANNIVERSARY 25OF THE BLG AWARDS Proud to be Canadian Presented by the Canadian Athletic Foundation The BLG Awards Fact Sheet Year Established: 1993 The Awards Ceremony: The 25th Annual BLG Awards will be presented on Monday, May 1st at 7:30 pm (MDT) at the Martha Cohen Theatre, Calgary, Alta. Background: The BLG Awards Ceremony honours Canadian university athletes and promotes post-graduate studies across the country. Understanding the financial constraints on athletics programs, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) in conjunction with U SPORTS (formerly Canadian Interuniversity Sport – CIS), established these awards to assist in focusing attention on the importance of athletics at Canadian universities and to showcase the exceptional student athletes in Canada. The Canadian Athletic The CAF is a non-profit board established to administer the BLG Awards and protect the integrity of the selection process. Foundation (CAF): The Board of Trustees consists of 18 members from five Canadian cities representing several major corporations. Awards Criteria: Each of the 56 U SPORTS universities nominates one male and one female Athlete of the Year. One male and one female are then selected from each of the four U SPORTS conferences: Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA), Ontario University Athletics (OUA), Réseau du sport etudiant du Quebec (RSEQ), and Atlantic University Sport (AUS). To be eligible for a BLG Award, nominees must meet the following requirements: • Must have participated in a U SPORTS-sanctioned sport for a minimum period of two years (including the current year of nomination); • Must be in a course of study leading to their first undergraduate degree or graduate program; • Must be the university’s Athlete of the Year or runner-up; and • Cannot be a previous BLG Award winner.
