Stars Over Jacobson Barn The iconic red clapboarded barn on Horsebarn Hill, a favorite spot for graduation photos, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Farwell Barn, named for its original owners. Even the official register, though, nods to the familiar “other name” Jacobson Barn, for the subsequent owners who sold it to UConn. The listing describes it as “one of a dwindling number of historic resources that recall Mansfield’s long history as a primarily agricultural community.” UConn videographer Angelina Reyes, who captured this shot, says, “I waited for a clear night. No clouds. Just stars. I took one photograph with a 30-second exposure every two seconds over a two-hour period. I then went into Photoshop and stacked each image on top of the other to create star trails.” Watch a time-lapse video of the stars and see historical photos of the barn at s.uconn.edu/barn. The Huskies built a 15-point lead a little more than 12 minutes into the first half, and Tennessee could never recover. The Lady Vols, who had been averaging 80 points per game, took 13 min- utes to reach 10 points in the national title game. The Huskies were led by the Final Four’s most outstanding player, Shea Ralph, who set the tone for her team defensively with six steals and added 15 points and seven assists to the victory. Connecticut earned its second national title five years to the day after its first championship win in 1995.
