Super High School an NPC Resource for Running Teenage Super Hero Games Made by /Tg/ Anons and Compiled by Ann Skellington /TG/ Super High School An NPC resource for running Teenage Super Hero Games Made by /tg/ anons and compiled by Ann Skellington Staff >Name: John Rothgow >Aliases: Painkiller (Former) >Birthplace/Origin: San Francisco >Powers: Super Regeneration, Pain Resistance (Mask with Anesthetic gas), Genius(Not Super Genius) level IQ >Occupation: Principal >Cliques: Staff, Administration, Villain >Short Bio: Rothgow is a reformed villain who used to operate a major criminal organization in San Francisco. After being captured, he plead guilty and his lawyer successfully argued that the pain killers he was addicted to at the time had severe psychosis and should be considered an extenuating circumstance. He was given a 20-year sentence but was out in six due to good behavior. While incarcerated he successfully completed degrees in education and psychology. His appointment as Principal at Hero High caused an uproar, but his performance has been exemplary. The number of graduates turn to criminal activity is at a record low. >Motivations: Seemingly devoted to the school and it's students >Secret or Hidden Info: Is actually reformed. Works pro-bono both at the school and at a Community Center in San Francisco. He is independently wealthy after a successful class action lawsuit against DynaCo. the makers of a pain killer whose undisclosed side effects included psychosis. >Name: Esteban Cruz >Aliases: Escalator >Birthplace/Origin: Somewhere in Spain >Powers: Can slide across any surface and up/down any slope >Occupation: Security >Cliques: N/A >Short Bio: Moved to [Country of Campaign] to follow a girl he got engaged with. He didn't have much direction before the move but afterwards he got a job at the school and he's much more stable >Motivations: He likes helping students sometimes and also being security means he gets to slide around on the job all day >Secret or Hidden Info: He hates his alias but he can't change it because his mom picked it out 1 >Name: J'o'n Defeezy >Aliases: Big Jon >Birthplace/Origin: Musteria, a plane of magic >Powers: low level super strength and toughness >Occupation: Teacher - Gym, Weight Lifting, Unarmed Combat and Remedial Magic >Cliques: Staff >Short Bio: Big Jon was transported to out plane during a battle with a Lich on his. He spent a few years at a street level Hero in New York. Before finding a portal home. He got used to the convinces of modern Life like indoor plumbing and protein shakes. After defeating the lich and saying goodbyes he returned to our world. He is on call 24/7 and sleeps in the dorms. On again off again relationship with Gorlaxor the Janitor >Motivations: lifting and enjoying the finer things in life, like pro-wrestling and soap operas >Secret or Hidden Info: none >Name: Immo Late >Aliases: Heart of the Necropolis >Birthplace/Origin: Turku, Finland >Powers: Flesh Sculpting >Occupation: Nurse >Cliques: Staff, delinquents, jocks >Short Bio: Immo is an artificial being born from the heart of a dead eldritch horror, who was discovered at the bottom of a coal mine. Quickly found employment as a doctor for supers, due to their innate understanding of all living things, even those who's anatomy was beyond the understanding of modern or super science. >Motivations: Looking for flesh they do not understand, and helping others. >Secret or Hidden Info: Wants to revive their fore bearer by taking small samples of flesh from all the supers they tend to. Believes the right combination of flesh will achieve it. Has no idea what will happen if it works >Name: Jon Porter >Aliases: Cleanup Crew >Birthplace/Origin: Colorado, USA >Powers: Can duplicate and re-merge himself >Occupation: Custodian/Janitor >Cliques: Generally loved by all non-villain students and staff >Short Bio: Jon was born the oldest of 6 and had always been an intelligent boy. When his mother was widowed, he took it upon himself to help raise his siblings. He was always inclined toward being kind, attentive, and responsible. Caring for others came naturally to him, and simply became easier when he learned of his power to split into multiple versions of himself and merge back together. He became a master of many trades, and can quite literally build a house as a one- man-team in a matter of weeks. He has a habit of putting others before himself, and a gift for bringing out the best in others. No job is too dirty or difficult if it means helping others. He was an easy choice for custodian of a school that regularly has some exceptional destruction and devastation on a weekly basis. 2 >Motivations: Helping other supers become the best version of themselves. >Secret or Hidden Info: All things he experiences are merged together at once when he merges back together, and can often be overwhelming. Some versions of himself who have experienced terrible things have taken their own lives in order to keep his whole self sane, but there appears to also be a lasting negative effect of having permanently lost those duplicates. Not long ago, Jon owned his own company contracted by the state to help with aftermath cleanup for super-power-specific damages and death. He was extremely successful, and the apparent disposability of his duplicates meant copies could be sent into actively dangerous situations (such as high radiation) or into situations where the psychological aftermath could be assessed before remerging and determine if he felt he couldn't deal with it and not remerge. The trauma of losing his copies and the gravity of the memories he did keep became too much, so he sought out a simpler and still helpful position with these young minds at the high school. >Name: Joe/John Q. Public >Aliases: ForgetMeNot >Birthplace/Origin: America, city unknown. >Powers: Blends into the background too well, causing people to just ignore him and forget him moments after his existence is pointed out to them. >Occupation: Security Staff >Cliques: None >Short Bio: His condition made him steal for a living or do odd jobs for villains (mostly espers who could remember him to some degree). Got a job offer for an honest living after Rothgrow somehow got a hold of him. >Motivations: Long term employment >Secret or Hidden Info: They're actually four brothers with the same power, as far as they know, not even their own mother is aware of that fact >Name: Alisa Good >Aliases: Iron Woman >Birthplace/Origin: Venice California >Powers: Super Strength >Occupation: Gym Teacher >Cliques: Staff, Heroes >Short Bio: Alisa was the daughter of two pro bodybuilders. It's possible that her powers are a result of super drugs her mother took while pregnant. She was a member of the Glamazons before losing her peers in the Xsunga Event. While she later regained them she had become accustomed to the "normal life." A job offer to teach at the high school provided a way to use her gift while staying out of the lime light. >Motivations: Alisa is a fitness fanatic. It's a love that she tries to share when the student body. >Secret or Hidden Info: It's not the only love she wants to share with the student body. The sexy sweaty hormonal student body. Her super powers have come with a side effect, an overactive libido that borders on nymphomania. She's shacked up with many of the teaching and janitorial staff, and even scandalously recent graduates. So far she's managed to keep her hands off the student body, but it hasn't been easy. 3 >Name: Defective >Aliases: N/A >Birthplace/Origin: Undisclosed deep sea lab >Powers: Empathy aura. Xenomorph anatomy >Occupation: Cafeteria staff >Cliques: Everyone! >Short Bio: Defective was created in an attempt by a evil genetic engineer to create their own xenomorph army to take over the world. However, Defective lived up to her name, and finds the idea of harming others absolutely unacceptable, as she can feel others emotions within a 10 meter radius. After escaping into the ocean, she eventually washed ashore, and discovered humanity's love for good cooking. She worked as a street food vendor and periodic super hero for several years, before taking a position at Super High >Motivations: Making people happy, and being everyone's favorite lunch lady! >Secret or Hidden Info: Is fully functional as a xenomorph queen, and has created a hive underneath the school, along with several daughters out of stray animals. They patrol the school at night to keep troublemakers in check. >Name: Gerry Atlas >Aliases: "Driftwood" >Birthplace/Origin: Middle of fucking nowhere, Maine >Powers: Spontaneous wood summoning. Wood permeation. Slight wood manipulation. >Occupation: Maintenance/Janny at the highschool >Cliques: Sometimes other teachers/staff. Decent friends with the Shop/Tech class because he can supply wood/materials >Short Bio: He was hit in the head with a 2x4 and that's what sparked his powers. His pa worked at a lumberyard and he helped him in his youth, using his powers. >Motivations: Make a friend that doesnt make a "haha you got wood" joke. Next week's paycheck. >Secret or Hidden Info: He knows where all the wooden parts of the school's structure are. He knows how much force it would take to bring this place to the ground. He feels like he's gotten the short end of the STICKhaha His patience is running thin. 4 >Name: Brian Wong >Aliases: Super Brain >Birthplace/Origin: Honolulu Hawaii >Powers: Super Intelligence, ability y find appropriately sized hats >Occupation: Teacher- Biology, Chemistry, Advanced Shop (Robotics) >Cliques: Teachers, Villains >Short Bio: Born to Japanese-American parents, his powers manifested early and he got a side kick apprenticeship in Hawaii (this was in the days back before mandatory Super Education).

Zamindars, businessmen, and bhadralok as curators of theIndiannationinSatyajitRay’s Jalsaghar ( The Music Room)∗ GAUTAM GHOSH The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China Email: [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract The Bengali bhadralok have had an important impact on Indian nationalism in Bengal and in India more broadly. Their commitment to narratives of national progress has been noted. However, little attention has been given to how ‘earthly paradise’, ‘garden of delights’, and related ideas of refinement and nobility also informed their nationalism. This article excavates the idea of earthly paradise as it is portrayed in Satyajit Ray’s 1958 Bengali film Jalsaghar, usually translated as The Music Room. Jalsaghar is typically taken to depict, broadly, the decadence and decline of aristocratic ‘feudal’ landowners (zamindars) who were granted their holdings and, often, noble rank, such as ‘Lord’ or ‘Raja’, during Mughal or British times, representing the languid past of the nobility, and the ascendance of a ∗ Parts of this article were presented by invitation at the Asian Studies Centre, Oxford University; the South Asian Studies Centre, Heidelberg University, and the Borders, Citizenship and Mobility Workshop at King’s College London. M-76 (rev. 09/14) n 1876, to commemorate 100 years of independence from Great Britain, Archibald M. Willard presented his painting, Spirit of ‘76, Iat the U.S. Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, PA. The painting depicts three generations of Americans fighting for their new nation’s freedom, one of whom is marching along though slightly wounded in battle. Willard’s powerful portrayal of the strength and determination of the American people in the face of overwhelming odds inspired millions. The painting quickly became one of the most popular patriotic images in American history. This depiction of courage and character still resonates today as the Spirit of ‘76 lives on in our newest Americans. “Spirit of ‘76” (1876) by Archibald M. Willard.
