It has a Police Station under Chandannagar Sub-Division. This place is famous for having one of the most significant Lings of Lord Shiva. In this place, the Linga of Lord Shiva is worshipped in the name of Taraknath. For housing this important Linga of Lord Shiva, this city has coined its name from the name of lord Taraknath. This pious town of Hooghly district is located 58KM away from Kolkata. Taraknath temple is the major attraction of Tarakeswar city. This temple was created in 1729 A.D. by Raja Bharamalla. According to experts, this temple was built by following the patterns of central West Bengal’s architecture with features such as ‘Aatchala’ and ‘Natmandir’. The temple has four roofs above the Sanctum Sanctorum and extended galleries for the congregation of the devotees. Dudhpukur Tank is a major attraction of Tarakeswar. This milk tank is linked up with the temple of Taraknath. According to mythological belief this tank is a miraculous place. For this reason, travellers draw closer to take a dip inside this water tank to fulfil their wishes. • Geo-Economic Analysis of Resource Development in Hooghly District, West Bengal, India
www.ijird.com June, 2016 Vol 5 Issue 7 ISSN 2278 – 0211 (Online) Geo-Economic Analysis of Resource Development in Hooghly District, West Bengal, India Pulak Ghosh Guest Lecturer, Department of Geography Mahitosh Nandy Mahavidyalaya, Jangipara, Hooghly, West Bengal, India Abstract: “Resource are the bases of both security and opulence; they are the foundations of power and wealth. They affect man’s destiny in war and peace alike” (Zimmermann, 1951). Resource development all over the world has, unfortunately, been far away from optimum. Fast expanding human population and the ever-growing demand for food, clothing and shelter have brought about great stress on resources which are mostly finite. The study of resources, their exploitation, utilization and development process is an important aspect for the development of any region. The paper attempts to discuss in this context to get the ideas before undertaking the present study. Keywords: Resource, Opulence, optimum, exploitation 1. Introduction The study of resource development helps to understand the relationship between man and his activities. ̎ The word resource does not refer to a thing or substance but to a function which a thing or substance may perform or to an operation in which it may take part namely the function or operation of attaining a given end such as satisfying a want .̎ (Zimmerman, 1933) People have been manipulating the physical environment to satisfy their needs, this process is called resource development. Typically, resources cannot be consumed in their original form, but rather through resource development they must be processed into more usable commodities. In the words of Mitchell ̎ resource development represents the actual exploitation or use of a resource during the transformation of neutral staff into a commodity or service to serve human needs and aspirations ̎.

Dros. Inf. Serv. 95 (2012) New Species 153 Phallic Organs Aedeagus elongated, pale yellow, apparently bifid, pubescent ventro-apically and slightly curved dorsally at tip (Figure 1, H). Anterior gonapophyses long, apically narrowly pointed and curved. Posterior gonapophyses dorsally dilated and proximally with a small conical process. Novasternum with lateral processes, median processes very small with a pair of submedian spines. Ventral fragma triangular, broader than long. Oviscrapt Lobe pale brown in color, rounded apically, robust with about 11 marginal ovisensillum (1F); no discal teeth present; basal isthmus short. Discussion This species superficially resembles Scaptomyza (Parascaptomyza) adusta (Loew, 1862) in having four rows of acrostichal setulae between antero dorsocentral setulae, presence of picture wing, presence of paralobes in periphallic organ, surstylus flatter, with only two regions of prensistae. However, this species distinctly differs from S. adusta in dark coloration of the body, spots in wings in males and females, and absence of setae on secondary clasper on anal plate. For these reasons, it is diagnosed as distinct to other species of the genus Scaptomyza. Acknowledgments: This work is financially supported by WB DST project 289 (Sanc.) • Introduction*
INTRODUCTION | 1 Introduction* Radhavallabh Tripathi IT is almost an impossible task for a single person to present a comprehensive view on the status and trends of Sanskrit studies in a vast country like India. What is being done here would just appear to be a sketchy account, containing snippets of information, that is to be further corroborated, properly analysed and explored. India is divided into 28 states, 7 union territories and 644 districts. There is hardly any district or region where Sanskrit is not studied in some form or the other. Sanskrit is mentioned in the list of 22 major languages, officially accepted in the Constitution of India, and it is also one of the three languages there, that have an all India character. Teaching, Education and Research In India there are 282 universities as per the records with the AIU, at least 112 of which have postgraduate and research departments of Sanskrit. The number of colleges teaching Sanskrit is around 10,000. “Modern methods” are adopted in these institutions for teaching programmes in Sanskrit. Apart from these universities and colleges, there are 16 Sanskrit universities and a number of Sanskrit pÀÇhaœÀlÀs or Sanskrit * This is an enlarged and revised version of my paper “Sanskrit Studies in India” published in the Bulletin of IASS, 2012. 2 | SIXTY YEARS OF SANSKRIT STUDIES: VOL. 1 colleges where traditional method also known as pÀÇhaœÀlÀ paddhati is practised. As per a recent state-wise survey conducted by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (RSkS) the number of Sanskrit pÀÇhaœÀlÀs in Madhya Pradesh is 644, in Chhattisgarh 32, in Uttar Pradesh 1347, Uttarakhand 115, in Karnataka it is 290, in Orissa 433, Punjab 8, Rajasthan 1698, Sikkim 36, Tamil Nadu 55, and in Himachal Pradesh 129, Andhra Pradesh 509, Assam 83, Bihar 717, Goa 4, Gujarat 63, Haryana 74, Jammu & Kashmir 43, Jharkhand 3, Kerala 31, Maharashtra 63, Manipur 8.
