Chris Owen and Ken Feaster-Eytchison National Show Co-Chairs [email protected] and [email protected] Dear ADGA Members and Guests, Welcome to ADGA National Show 2019. We would like to thank the Northwest Oregon National Show Association for the outstanding job they have done in planning this show. These volunteers have been working diligently to coordinate this event. We are grateful to the local group for their countless hours of work to make this show a success. A huge debt of gratitude goes to the many, many volunteers behind the scenes, without which this show could not exist. Thank you, local volunteers and the National Show Committee, as well as the many other volunteers who just step in to help out. And thank you exhibitors who have braved the preparation, paperwork and travel to make this show possible. A special thank you goes out to our award sponsors and our major sponsors. Our major sponsors are: BIO-Genics, Biotic Industries, Standlee Premium Western Forage, simple PULSE, LLC., and Host Group Sponsor, Northwest Oregon Dairy Goat Association. The generous contributions of these sponsors are greatly appreciated and help to sustain this show. Please visit their booths and take the time to thank them. Each year, nine beautiful doe kids are donated by ADGA members for the Doe Kid Raffle. This event has proven to be invaluable in helping to offset National Show expenses. We certainly appreciate this year’s donors listed in this Show Book. Our ADGA Youth Representative, Seth Blake of Newark, Ohio, along with the assistance of our alternate Youth Representative, Emily Kern of Bethlehem, Connecticut, will be passing out the ribbons and awards this week. We appreciate their enthusiastic assistance as well as all the youth who are participating in the shows and working behind the scenes. As you attend this showcase of some of the world’s most beautiful and productive dairy goats, take the time to visit with those with similar interests, rekindle old friendships and enjoy new ones! We hope you all have a wonderful show. Sincerely, Chris Owen & Ken Feaster-Eytchison While every care has been exercised in compiling and publishing data contained in these pages, ADGA acknowledges that error or omissions could occur. This led them to an absorption with the Jewish creation myths in Genesis, which they obsessively reinterpreted to formulate allegorical explanations of how humans ended up trapped in the world of matter. The basic Gnostic story, which varied in details from teacher to teacher, was this: In the beginning there was an unknowable, immaterial, and invisible God, sometimes called the Father of All and sometimes by other names. “He” was neither male nor female, and was composed of an implicitly finite amount of a living nonphysical substance. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas.

    1. GIVE AND TAKE1 A Sindhi sufferer writes: At this critical time when thousands of our countrymen are leaving their ancestral homes and are pouring in from Sind, the Punjab and the N. W. F. P., I find that there is, in some sections of the Hindus, a provincial spirit. Those who are coming here suffered terribly and deserve all the warmth that the Hindus of the Indian Union can reasonably give. You have rightly called them dukhi,2 though they are commonly called sharanarthis. The problem is so great that no government can cope with it unless the people back the efforts with all their might. I am sorry to confess that some of the landlords have increased the rents of houses enormously and some are demanding pagri. May I request you to raise your voice against the provincial spirit and the pagri system specially at this time of terrible suffering? Though I sympathize with the writer, I cannot endorse his analysis. Nevertheless I am able to testify that there are rapacious landlords who are not ashamed to fatten themselves at the expense of the sufferers. But I know personally that there are others who, though they may not be able or willing to go as far as the writer or I may wish, do put themselves to inconvenience in order to lessen the suffering of the victims. The best way to lighten the burden is for the sufferers to learn how to profit by this unexpected blow. They should learn the art of humility which demands a rigorous self-searching rather than a search of others and consequent criticism, often harsh, oftener undeserved and only sometimes deserved.

Paranoid self-talk as dichotomous monologue to move the crowd. Part of this has to do with the deep cuts and scratches in my mind. Recorded and remixed across DNA double helixes. Structurally split. Generationally divided. A style and family history built on breaking down. Evidence of how ill I am. And then there’s the matter of skin. The material concerns of cultural cross-fertilization. Itching to plant seeds where the grass is always greener. Color collaborations and appropriations. Writing white/out with black art ink. Distinctions dangerously hidden behind backbeats or shamelessly displayed front and center for familiar-feeling consumption.

Present day Pune, an aspiring metropolis, presents a complex socio-spatial intersection of neoliberal processes and peculiar historical trajectories of caste exclusion; this dissertation seeks to highlight how socio-spatial dynamics of the city produce and sustain gendered identities and inequalities in Pune, a city hitherto neglected in academic research. Also, my focus on young men’s gendered identities speaks to a growing recognition that men need to be studied in gendered terms, as ‘men,’ in order to understand fully the dimensions of gendered inequalities and violence prevalent in South Asian cities today. I follow the lives of young men between 16 and 30 in a neighborhood in the eastern part of Pune, who belong to a scheduled caste called Matang.
