It is my privilege to present to you the 11th Annual Report of the ICFAI University, Mizoram for the year 2016-17. The report covers the activities for the period April 01, 2016 to March 31, 2017. This is in compliance with Section 44 of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, (Mizoram) Act, 2006 (Act No.4 of 2006) The enclosed report presents details of various activities of the University including co-curricular activities like sports and cultural activities. I am pleased to share that the Fifth Convocation of the University was held on November 10, 2016 at the ICFAI University campus Auditorium wherein 109 students were awarded degrees. Honorable Governor of Mizoram Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.) was the Chief Guest. The University has established its name for employment oriented quality higher education and we have been able to place all the students of MBA Program. This year we have started new PG programs in the field of Social Work, History and Education to broaden the academic scope of the University and also to attract the students from diverse backgrounds. The University is Accredited Training Partner for GST by National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), an Apex Institution of Government of India for capacity building in the field of Indirect Taxes. We are grateful to the Government of Mizoram for their continuous support and encouragement. The continued cooperation extended by the Local Council of Durtlang North is noteworthy. I would also like to convey my sincere appreciation to my predecessor, Prof. J. P. Ramappa for his admirable contribution and dedication to the cause of the University. Regular meetings of Board of Governors and Board of Management, Academic Council and Finance Committee were held as per provisions of Statutes and Act. Introduction The ICFAI University, Mizoram was established under the provisions of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, (Mizoram) Act 2006, (Act No. 4 of 2006).The University is sponsored by The ICFAI Society, a not-for-profit educational society established in 1984. The University is empowered by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to award degrees under section 22 of the UGC Act 1956. The University emphasizes on providing high quality and industry relevant education in the areas of Management, Humanities, Commerce, Information Technology, and the Hospitality & Tourism Management programs including distance learning programs. The ICFAI University, Mizoram is a Member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, London and Member of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The University believes in creating and disseminating knowledge through innovative educational programs, research, consulting and publishing. The University seeks to establish a cadre of professionals with a high level of competence and deep sense of ethics and commitment to the code of professional conduct. 2. Vision: Merit with Ethics Vision: The ICFAI University Mizoram to emerge as a premier “Center of Excellence” for career oriented education known for contributing leaders in the vital sectors of the Socio-economy.
