August 22-24, 2014 • Carlisle, PA

elcome to the 32nd edition of Corvettes at Carlisle. This is the 40th Wanniversary for Carlisle Events and we’re pleased you’re here with us. There are some remarkable vehicles on display this weekend. Be sure to check out Chip’s Choice honoring the relationships formed through the Corvette; I encourage you to read their stories starting on page 28. We often focus too much on the cars, but the stories behind them make the vehicles even more exciting. Other great displays will be available all weekend. Check out the NCRS Gallery, NCCC Concours, race reunion, Challenge Car reunion, the special 1964 50th Anniversary display and more. The displays will be outstanding and the vendor area is a “must see” too. Not only will you find some great deals, there are plenty of hard-to- find parts too. Take time and talk with vendors, you’ll be amazed at the knowledge they have to offer. The Manufactureres Midway showcases some of the latest and greatest trends. General Motors brought some of the Corvette Team along with the new Stingray Z06. How can you not love this new Corvette? Just like the next guy…I can’t wait to play in one! If you are in need of assistance, please stop any Carlisle team member with a red Carlisle Events staff shirt to ask for help and let them know how we can help make your visit better. We love listening to and learning from you; it’s the only way we can improve the event. Again, we appreciate your attending this event. We realize there are other options and we’re thankful you chose Carlisle. We look forward to seeing you next year on August 28-30, 2015. Go ahead and mark August 26-28 on your 2016 calendar. — Lance Miller, Event Manager

In December 2003, Chip was diagnosed with a little-known disease called Amyloidosis. Sadly, due to complications from the Amyloidosis, the world lost an incredibly special human being on March 25, 2004. Had Chip and his doctors been aware of the symptoms of the disease when they first presented, this legend might still be with us today. Amyloidosis occurs when enough abnormal protein, called amyloid, builds up in one or more organs to cause a malfunction. As an abnormal protein, amyloid originates in bone marrow. The heart, kidneys, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract are most often affected by the disease. Signs and symptoms of Amyloidosis depend on the organs affected. The wide range of symptoms makes it difficult to diagnose. Chip lived by the mantra: The mission of the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation is to empower people with the knowledge and understanding of Amyloidosis for earlier Life is Good detection, ensuring a better quality of life for those afflicted with the disease and to help science find the cures.

That man is now 82 and he and the Pierson’s 1956 Corvette are friends. Chip’s Choice #324 Chad Hohmes 1974 Stingray

Talk about things coming full circle. Joe and Marilyn are in possession of a 1956 Corvette that was originally Joe’s in 1965. In 1965 Joe bought the ’56 for just $800. In 1967 Joe and Marilyn drove it on their honeymoon. It was their daily driver for many years and was the When Chad Hohmes came into his Corvette it was first of what became two Corvettes in 1969. As Chad Frank Cupo grew up, he started working at a body shop and with his 2010 Corvette Grand Sport learned talents, was able to help restore and enhance his Pop’s Corvette. Between Chad and the Vette Barn, the car got the TLC it deserved. Fast forward to 1994 and Pop was diagnosed with cancer. Though he overcame that battle, in 2000, the cancer returned and Pop passed away in 2002. Before he passed though, Chad bought the car from Pop and it sits here today, restored, repainted, and is the anchor of some great memories with his Pop. His vision included building this racer with the engine located mid-chassis, making it four-wheel drive and slapping a V8 under its centrally-located hood. When built, the CERV II was capable of going from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and well over 200 mph. Though never part of official competition, the car did provide a testing platform for Duntov’s ultimate dream, building the highest performance streetcar in the world and it is definitely “CERV”ing up some excitement this weekend. Special guests and Corvette dignitaries will be expressing their Corvette enthusiasm by firing up the CERV II. Don’t miss the sound that simply cannot be dupli- cated! Lance Miller will start the weekend off by revving the engine immediately following the National Anthem at 9:00am on Friday. Revving will continue Friday and Saturday at 9:00AM, 11:00AM, 1:00PM and 3:00 PM. You never know who might be in the driver’s seat…Don’t miss out!

CarlisleEvents.com 2014 CORVETTES AT CARLISLE 45 ALL NEW The Quest We know that there’s a lot to do and see while you are walking the aisles during the 2014 Corvettes at Carlisle. While you’re visiting the vendors, gazing at the field of Corvettes or simply grabbing a bite to eat, why not become eligible for free gifts? The Carlisle Quest lets you do just that. We have strategically placed seven very large banners at locations throughout the field. Each banner represents one of the seven generations of Corvette. As you pass the banners, stop by and get your directory stamped proving that you found the banner. Once you have all of your generation stamps in your directory, stop by the Guest Services building (with your stamped directory) to pick up your first annual Carlisle Quest pin. We gather together year after year and look forward to seeing old friends, incredible displays and vendors who are a must see. We build relationships. We do our part in strengthening the hobby.

A tradition that I look forward to every five years is the ever-popular Race Display. This display brings together some of the most incredible cars Corvette has to offer. They have made their way around the track and have earned their spot in the racing history books. I urge you to check out this display, meet the drivers, owners and racing community that frequent this display.

In conjunction with the Challenge Car Display, we will also be hosting a Racer’s Retreat dinner on Friday evening from 6pm-8pm at the nearby Carlisle Expo Center. Although, tickets were purchased in advance, there will be a limited quantity available at the door. This retreat will feature some of the cars and racing legends that have made Corvette Racing so incredible. Great food, great cars and great company- what more could you ask for on a Friday night?!?! We feel so strongly about these cars that we have even decided to give them their own parade! Join us at the stage on Friday right after the Burn Out competition as many of these Race and Challenge cars rev it up just a little as they make their way to the Racer’s Retreat dinner. The activity surrounding this display is something you surely don’t want to miss…See you there!! (See your map on page 44-45 for Race Display location)
