MAY DAY WEEKEND – 1ST 2ND 3RD MAY CHILLAGOE CAR CAMP Chillagoe is 2hrs drive from Atherton, with only 15 km of good gravel road. Meet Saturday 8am at Duncan Ray’s place in Chillagoe. After lunch there will be an afternoon walk with Duncan and a caving trip. Cave is relatively easy with large chambers. Hat, water and good torch are essential. Sunday all day walk guided by Duncan. Bring lunch & smoko. S/R. Monday 1/2 day walk.

WEDNESDAY 5TH MAY MT MISCH See a diverse range in vegetation types as we climb a steady ridge into dark rainforest. See Kauris, native pines, stingers, old springboard cuts in long logged trees and an unusual garden array. Great views of the Tableland. Leave Tolga Post Office 8am, return by 3 pm. WEDNESDAY 19TH MAY BULL CREEK Meet at car park at 8am. Bull Creek is off Fuller Road, Gadgarra. Features 7km attractive mixed rain forest walk from Fuller Road with easy downhill to Bull Creek then uphill to Gadgarra Road. Long gaiters and long sleeved shirt essential. Grade easy. SUNDAY 30TH MAY VISTAS This walk will leave at 8am from the end of Herald St. If coming from the Gillies Hwy, turn left at Gordonvale, continue along and turn left into Robert Rd. Veer left after the traffic light and turn the third right into Herald St. Continue to the end.

The walk is from Bentley Park to White Rock with lots of rewarding views down to Cairns’ southern suburbs, the Trinity Inlet, to the Yarrabah Range and beyond. We will probably have to cut our way through some forest as the walk is not done very often. Some steep ascents and descents make it a moderate to strenuous undertaking. Back by mid afternoon. They drove cattle from their paddocks on Boar Pocket Road down the Gillies range along the highway and then down Hunt’s Track to Goldsborough valley. FRIDAY 20TH AUGUST – 29TH AUGUST HINCHINBROOK ISLAND Three peaks. This is a 9 day, 8 night walk which takes in the three major peaks of Hinchinbrook Island as well as the Thornsborne trail.
