We have been focused on a number of important areas including service development and health improvements, education and strengthening our partnerships and networks. FLU CAMPAIGN This year’s Flu campaign was launched on 1st October and it gave us an opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of the flu vaccine. Our approach this year was more targeted than in previous years and we have been engaging with at- risk groups to encourage the uptake of the flu vaccine. During the last quarter we attended many events to talk to people about staying well and give information about how to The East Area Team also undertook a winter get vaccinated. We were at Gwynedd Older Peoples Council, wellness programme which included the International Older People’s events in Connah’s Quay, promotion and raising awareness of flu Wrexham and Holyhead, 'Looking after myself week’ drop ins immunisation. Events began at Wrexham across Gywnedd, Cartrefi Conwy Older People’s Day and Maelor, community hospitals, health centres Llangollen Food Festival to name just a few. -

P-04-381: Restore North Wales Hospital Denbighshire County Council to Deputy Clerk Dear Kayleigh, Thanks for your email. I've attached my last email to the petitioners which was shortly after the site visit by your Committee. You will note that I refer to previous correspondence with them but despite this they felt it necessary to submit a petition. Whenever they have contacted us we have responded quickly and as openly as possible. I have met them in a local pub with the local councillor to explain our strategy and future plans but despite all this they seem to misunderstand our intentions. Since the visit to the site by the Committee we have updated our own Cabinet, the local Members Area Group which comprises the County Councillors for the area and we have updated the Town Council in an open forum. We have commissioned a DVD which we use to inform members of the public. It was on a loop in the town library over the Open Heritage Weekend in September last year. We have now informed the owner of the hospital that it is our intention to serve a Repairs Notice and if not complied with we will begin compulsory purchase proceedings. The Urgent Works which were ongoing at the time of the Committee's visit are now completed. The total cost of these works were £930k. We are continuing with our efforts to save the building despite all the difficulties we face. Regards, Phil. Purpose of report 1.1 The purpose of this report is to provide the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) with an updated position in relation to: The current situation at BCUHB, including progress on actions identified by the Interim Chief Executive and the implementation of the recommendations contained in the Committee report of December 2013. Update on orthopaedic services following the Auditor General for Wales report published in June 2015. Progress Report on GP out of hours service. Update on maternity services. Update on Health Board budget planning. Any other governance matters of concern to the Committee that may have arisen in the interim. This report builds on the progress which has been reported publicly at the Health Board’s meetings throughout the year. 2. Introduction/Context 2.1 The Wales Audit Office and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales undertook a joint review which was published in June 2013 into the governance arrangements of BCUHB. It identified significant failings in governance and leadership. In July 2013 the Health Board Chairman at that time, together with the Chief Executive and Senior Officers, gave evidence to the National Assembly for Wales Public Accounts Committee. The PAC subsequently published their report into the governance arrangements at BCUHB in December 2013. The newly appointed Chairman and Chief Executive together with relevant Directors provided further evidence to the Public Accounts Committee in July 2014 and March 2015. -
