Alabama in the National Rankings: The Alabama men’s track & fi eld team is ranked No. 9, COACHING STAFF while the Crimson Tide women are No. 20 in their respective U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Head Coach Dan Waters Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason rankings released Jan. 10. Alabama is one of Alma Mater Kansas, 1995 four Southeastern Conference teams in the men’s top-10, joining Florida (1), Georgia (2) and Years at Alabama Seventh Season Assistant Coach (Short Sprints) Dion Miller Arkansas (3). alabama Track & Field Notes Top 10 Performers Ferguson Posts UA Top-Four Shot Put Mark at Blazer Invitational Alabama track & fi eld athletes posted two performances that rank among the top-10 Junior Kord Ferguson won the shot put on his fi nal attempt of the competition at the in school outdoor track & fi eld history in their respective events in the Tide’s season UAB Blazer Invitational on Jan. 12 with a personal-best mark of 62-3 ¾ (18.99m), which opening meet on Jan. 12. equaled the fourth-best effort in school history and the fi rst school top-10 effort for Ferguson in the indoor shot put. UAB BLAZER INVITATIONAL - JAN. 12 The nationally-ranked Alabama track & fi eld teams turned in solid performances to open the 2018 season at the UAB Blazer Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Jan. 12. The day featured two Crimson Tide top-10 school performances for the ninth-ranked men’s team as junior Kord Ferguson (62-3 3/4; 18.99m) shot put and senior Ruebin Walters (7.76) captured the 60-meter hurdles title. Senior Daniel Haugh also set a meet record with his winning mark of 71-10 (21.89m) in the weight throw. The 20th-ranked Alabama women took home victories by sophomore Symone Darius, who was the top collegiate fi nisher in the 300 meters, circling the track in 38.90 and junior Tamara Moncrieffe, who won the triple jump in her Alabama debut with a mark of 41-2 ½ (12.56m). The women capped the night with a win in the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of freshman Daija Lampkin, sophomore Katie Funcheon, fresh- man Tamara Clark and sophomore Symone Darius circled the track in a time of 3:39.82.
