AN News Round-Up AN News Round-up Person 1: Welcome Back ladies and gentlemen to another AN News Round-Up Person 1: I’m (Insert name here) and this is (Insert name here) Person 2: (Introduces self) Person 1: Let’s not waste anytime and get right into it with the most hyped segment of the day! Person 2: Let’s talk about what's new! Unlike last year, this year is brimming with new anime, Starting off with Attack on Titan: The Final season. Which has been dominating the charts, and blowing One Piece and Demon Slayer out of the water as the new Number 1 anime series worldwide. Person 1: And who could blame them, those first few episodes were lit! Person 1: However, let’s give Demon Slayer it’s due. Over the Winter it’s manga out sold the entire American comic book industry. Becoming the most popular- Person 2: (And valuable!) Person 1: Comic/manga in the world! Now that is amazing! (Insert banter here) Person 2: Speaking of Manga let’s talk about some of the heavy hitters. Person 1: Dragon Ball Super just wrapped up the Moro arc and to the surprise of many, jumped right into the next Arc. The Granola Suvivor Arc, which picks up moments after the the previous arc. Person 2: This was a surprise for many as the previous arcs had all had a timeskip inbetween them, which had led to many criticisms about the disjointedness of the series. But I guess that is a thing of the past now. Person 1:In other news, Here are the most hyped manga series that recently announced they are getting an anime adaptation: Person 2: Chainsaw man, This bloody hyper violent manga series has grown a massive (and possibly sadistically insane) fandom that has been craving an adaption since the second chapter. And it seems that come late 2021 they will have their appetites sated. Person 1: Record of Ragnarok - The new kid on the Tournament manga block, Record of Ragnarok blasted on the scene with it’s compelling battles and epic story of Man vs God. The series is set for release sometime late this year but will most likely only cover the first 4 fights of the series. Person 2: Baki: Son of Ogre - Yes, the OG fighting series is coming back, and this season we will finally get the match we have been waiting for. As Baki challenges his father Yujiro to finally decide who is the strongest. Person 1: Bleach: Thousand Year War - The biggest gamble of the 2021 anime season is undoubtedly Bleach. Though fans have been clamoring for a second adaption to finish off the rest of the manga. The utterly disappointing final chapters of the series and the rather lackluster development of some fan favorite characters have left many with two burning questions: Person 2: Will the series be worth the watch? And will the ending be changed due to fan out cry? Only time will tell. (Insert Banter here) Person 1: Oh, and all of you Kaiju fans out there. Don’t think we forgot that 2021 is the ear of the Kaiju. In addition to the rematch of the Century Godzilla Vs Kong. Murdough A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS August 2006 Committee: Angela Nelson, Advisor Marilyn Motz Jeremy Wallach ii ABSTRACT Angela Nelson, Advisor In 1985-86, DC Comics launched an extensive campaign to revamp and revise its most important superhero characters for a new era. In many cases, this involved streamlining, retouching, or completely overhauling the characters’ fictional back-stories, while similarly renovating the shared fictional context in which their adventures take place, “the DC Universe.” To accomplish this act of revisionist history, DC resorted to a text-based performative gesture, Crisis on Infinite Earths. This thesis analyzes the impact of this singular text and the phenomena it inspired on the comic-book industry and the DC Comics fan community. The first chapter explains the nature and importance of the convention of “continuity” (i.e., intertextual diegetic storytelling, unfolding progressively over time) in superhero comics, identifying superhero fans’ attachment to continuity as a source of reading pleasure and cultural expressivity as the key factor informing the creation of the Crisis on Infinite Earths text. The second chapter consists of an eschatological reading of the text itself, in which it is argued that Crisis on Infinite Earths combines self-reflexive metafiction with the ideologically inflected symbolic language of apocalypse myth to provide DC Comics fans with a textual "rite of transition," to win their acceptance for DC’s mid-1980s project of self- rehistoricization and renewal.

To date, little is known for pacing in ultra-endurance athletes competing in a non-stop event and in a multi-stage event, and especially, about pacing in a multi-stage event with different disciplines during the stages. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the effect of age, sex and calendar year on triathlon performance and variation of performance by events (i.e., swimming, cycling 1, cycling 2 and running) in `Ultraman Hawaii' held between 1983 and 2015. Methods. Within each sex, participants were grouped in quartiles (i.e., Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4) with Q1 being the fastest (i.e., lowest overall time) and Q4 the slowest (i.e., highest overall time). To compare performance among events (i.e., swimming, cycling 1, cycling 2 and running), race time in each event was converted in z score and this value was used for further analysis. Results. A between-within subjects ANOVA showed a large sex × event (p D 0:015, η2 D 0:014) and a medium performance group × event interaction (p D 0:001, η2 D 0:012). No main effect of event on performance was observed (p D 0:174, η2 D 0:007). With regard to the sex × event interaction, three female performance groups (i.e., Q2, Q3 and Q4) increased race time from swimming to cycling 1, whereas only one male performance group (Q4) revealed a similar trend.

    GOBELINS and Netflix strengthen their partnership in favour of the emergence of new talents in animation Paris, November 3rd, 2020 - One year after the establishment of a partnership aimed at identifying and developing new talent in animation, Netflix and GOBELINS announce a new chapter in their collaboration with the creation of scholarships for three Bachelor's students, a new post-baccalaureate course. This new chapter of action complements the initiatives already in place with, in particular, the financing of scholarships for Master students from the African continent and the integration each year of a young graduate from GOBELINS into the Netflix Animation Fellowship programme. A broadening of the partnership set up in 2019 On the occasion of the start of the 2020 academic year, Netflix and GOBELINS are strengthening the partnership set up in 2019 with the creation of scholarships that will give three students each year access to GOBELINS' education as part of the introduction of a Bachelor's degree. This new course aims to master all animation techniques, both traditional and digital (2D and 3D), from pre-production to post-production, using professional methods practised in animation film studios in France and abroad. The first beneficiaries of this character animation apprenticeship scholarship programme will be appointed in June 2021.
