It is known that it parazites more than one hundred fishes, principally cyprinids. One of the major negative effects of fish introductions in Turkey is the wide spread distribution of S. acheilognathi. It is a highly pathogenic cestode that infects 26 fish species from seven families in Turkey. This study presents the current geographical distribution and host range of S. acheilognathi in inland waters of Turkey. The results of this survey were integrated into an updated and annotated list of oligochaetes and other aquatic annelids occurring in the country, summarized from historical and recent publications. Currently, the freshwater annelid fauna of Turkey includes 150 species of oligochaetes (1 Crassiclitellata, 21 Enchytraeidae, 1 Propappidae, 1 Haplotaxidae, 4 Lumbriculidae, 56 Naidinae, 64 Tubificinae, 2 Lumbricidae), 1 species of Branchiobdellida, and 6 species of Aphanoneura (1 Potamodrilidae and 5 Aeolosomatidae). Although studies focusing on the aquatic oligochaete fauna of Turkey have increased over the past 15–20 years, species diversity still remains unclear. They ensure food, habitat and oxygen to wildlife, aquatic organisms and even people. During the history, humans have used these plants as a food source, and medicine. They can also soak up pollutants from contaminated water. Aquatic plants are classified according to properties such as their habitats, form, size, development properties and etc. in wetlands. The most common floating aquatic plants in wetlands are Lemna, Spirodela, Salvinia and Azolla. There are also aquatic plants such as Potamogeton, Nymphaea and Trapa which are rooted in the soil at the base of the water but have leaves floating on the surface. The aim of this study is to mention the role of the floating aquatic plants in wetlands in the world and Turkey which are also known as invasive aquatic plants. Literature knowledge on floating aquatic plants are examined and the importance of these plants are evaluated and discussed. This update includes additional records and allows for the correction of errors and omissions that were present in the preceding version. The revision literature indicated the occurrence of 123 parasite species which included 60 monogeneans, 20 digeneans, 20 cestodes, 11 nematodes, seven acanthocephalans, five annelids from 71 different wild fish (64 native, four transitional, three introduced fish) species from freshwater in Turkey. Parasites not identified to species level are listed separately, and not included in the resulting comments, because of reporting different host species. Cyprinidae, with 50 species, is the dominant family among the examined fish with regard to species diversity. RESUMEN: Revisión de parásitos helmintos reportados en peces de aguadulce en Turquía, con nuevos registros. Se realizó una actualización del elenco de especies de helmintos parásitos de peces de agua dulce de Turquía. Yet, there are concerns that this ‘semi-naturalised’ species can ultimately pose a threat to aquatic ecosystems, especially when present at high biomass levels. For estimating the latter, knowledge of length–weight relationship (WLR) and condition factor (K) parameters is needed, and these also represent useful indicators of fish population dynamics in general. In this study, WLR and K parameter values from published literature data were comprehensively reviewed for 68 and 75 common carp stocks, respectively, from 52 water bodies across Anatolia, which were surveyed between 1953 and 2011. Overall, Anatolian common carp stocks were characterised by slightly negative allometric growth, which became more pronounced in some over-exploited stocks and/or under critical conditions of pollution and water quality. -

Unfortunately, native fish communities of Turkey, mainly from lentic ecosystems, have been massively altered in the past decades. Furthermore, these species, especially the endemic species, are now threatened by several human activities in addition to the global issue of climatic changes. The aim of this paper is to provide an updated review on the current status of endemic fish species from main lakes of Turkey including major threats affecting fish assemblages. By gathering data from the literature and authors’ personal observations, 62 endemic fish species were reported to occur in the considered 37 Turkish Lakes. The presence of non-native species, agriculture activities, climatic drought, and decreasing water level were found to be the threats that most affect the fish communities of the considered Turkish Lakes. ABSTRACT This review presents the occurrence of 62 parasitic copepod species from 72 different fish species (64 wild, two cultured, seven from aquarium) from Turkey. The parasite species list is arranged by providing parasite species name, host fish, location of host fish capture and author, date of published record. All parasites and their hosts are confirmed with the recent systematic accounts and full taxonomic account according to literature and internet database. Siphonostomatoida with 47 species and Caligidae with 12 species are the dominant order and family among parasitic copepoda with regard to species diversity, host distribution and location. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Übersicht parasitärer in Fischen festgestellter Copepoden. Vorliegende Übersicht bezieht sich auf das Vorkommen von 62 als Parasiten in 72 verschiedenen Fischarten lebender Copepoden Arten (64 wildlebende, zwei in Fischzuchtanlagen, sieben in Aquarien) in der Türkei. Die Liste der Parasiten umfasst den Namen der parasitierenden Art, den Wirtsfisch, Fangort des Fisches, Name des Sammlers und Veröffentlichung des Belegs. Alle Parasiten und deren Wirte werden nach den rezenten systematischen und taxonomischen Beschreibungen angegeben.
