The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers were trailing 3-1 and came back to defeat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-3 in a shootout on Friday night in Lethbridge. It was the Tigers’ sixth straight win and the 47th time in the team’s 50 year franchise history where they’ve won 20 or more games in a season. Elijah Brown had a two point night (1G, 1A) extending his point streak to nine points (3G, 6A) in the last five games. The Tigers are 20-7-1-0 and they are led by Captain James Hamblin with 43 points (17G, 26A). Tigers vs. Silvertips For the first and only time this season, the Tigers will faceoff with the Silvertips. Last year, the Tabbies paid a visit to Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett and defeated the Silvertips 1-0. Goaltender Mads Søgaard stopped all 41 shots faced and earned his third career shutout in the contest. Captain James Hamblin scored the Tigers’ lone tally on the power play. Medicine Hat is 2- 1-0-0 against Everett over the past five years. View from Everett Tonight’s game will be the third of a five game road trip for the Everett Silvertips. They started their road trip by turning aside the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-1 on Wednesday night. Friday they travelled to Swift Current and took down the Broncos 5-1. Veteran forward Bryce Kindopp had a four point night (2G, 2A) in Swift Current while forward Gage Goncalves has five points (2G, 3A) so far on the road trip. The Silvertips are 19-6-1-0 and they are led by Kindopp with 32 points (17G, 15A). Tigers Talent Nick Perna is the newest member of the Tigers’ blueline after being acquired from Portland November 28, 2019. The 18-year-old Dallas, Texas native has suited up for two games for the Orange and Black and he scored his first goal with his new team Tuesday, December 3 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Perna is a smart, smooth skating, two-way defenceman. Captain’s Corner Captain James Hamblin is leading the Tigers with 43 points (17G, 26A) and he is tied for top scorer in the league. He also leads the league with the most assists. The 20-year-old Edmonton product has eight points (2G, 6A) in his last four games played and he was named the WHL McSweeney’s Player of the Month for November after putting up 24 points (11G, 13A) in 12 games played that month. Hamblin leads the Tigers by example with his tireless work ethic. Look for the Captain to make an impact in tonight’s contest. Quick Hits Veteran forward Cyle McNabb scored his first goal in Orange and Black Friday night against the Hurricanes. McNabb was acquired by the Tigers from Saskatoon November 26, 2019, and he has suited up for four games with the Tigers picking up 2 points (1G, 1A). Mads Søgaard’s 41 save performance against the Silvertips last year was the second most shots he has faced when shutting out an opponent. The most was 48 shots when he shut the door on the Swift Current Broncos November 17, 2018. In the 2004 WHL Finals, the Tigers swept the Silvertips in four games to win the franchise’s fourth WHL Championship. Goaltender Kevin Nastiuk won playoff MVP. Nastiuk had two shutouts in the series and only allowed three goals over the four games played. Mads Søgaard and Jonathan Brinkman reported to Team Denmark for the 2020 U20 World Championship Division 1 Group A Tournament in Minsk, Belarus. Their first game is December 9th against Latvia.     CAMBRIDGE SPORTS HALL OF FAME Jim Schoenfeld September 4, 1952 – Galt native Jim Schoenfeld was the first defenceman and the fifth player chosen overall in the 1972 NHL draft. After finishing his Junior A career with the Niagara Falls Flyers, Jim went to the Buffalo Sabres, where big things were expected from him. He didn’t disappoint. In his rookie season he was immediately paired with hockey great Tim Horton. He joined a Sabres team with such future legends as Gilbert Perreault, the late Rick Martin and Rene Robert, known as the French Connection Line. Over the next 13 years in the NHL, Schoenfeld earned a reputation as a strong positional player, a great shot blocker and an aggressive, tough defenceman. In 1974-75 the Sabres, a team of star players, had one of the strongest squads in the league, losing out in the Stanley Cup finals to the Philadelphia Flyers. Their captain was Schoenfeld. He had become Buffalo’s – and the NHL’s – youngest-ever captain in 1974 at the ripe old age of 22. S c h o e n f e l d ’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. He was a second team all- star in 1979-80, and today is an honoured member of both the Buffalo Sabres and the Greater Buffalo Sports Halls of Fame. Schoenfeld had a lead- ing role in one of the legendary moments in Sabres’ history. It was the night Schoenfeld and Wayne Cashman, longtime Boston star, squared off at Buffalo’s War M e m o r i a l Auditorium.

    PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES MIKE CRAIG – Lethbridge Hurricanes (November 14) Now a current assistant coach of the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes, Mike had a highly decorated Junior hockey career, including winning a Memorial Cup alongside Eric Lindros with the Oshawa Generals, as well as winning a World Junior gold medal with Team Canada twice. He was also a first round draft choice, 28th overall, by the Minnesota North Stars. Mike would go on to play 423 NHL games for the North Stars, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks, as well as 11 seasons in Europe. FRAN GOW – Hockey Alberta (November 28 and December 5) Fran is currently a Coach Mentor in Hockey Development for Hockey Alberta, as well as the Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Most notably, Fran is one of only three coaches in AJHL history to coach 1,000 regular season games. He achieved this great feat while coaching the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, Grande Prairie Storm, and Drayton Valley Thunder. Fran won an RBC Cup with Fort McMurray in 2000. MATT WENINGER – Hockey Alberta (December 12) Matt is currently the Consultant for Hockey Alberta’s South Regional Centre. He played minor hockey in Lethbridge before moving on to play three seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. He then accepted an NCAA Division I scholarship to St. Lawrence University, graduating as the school’s all-time leader in games played and saves, and was second in all- time wins and shutouts. His coaching career includes stops with Laurentian University (CIS), the University of Lethbridge (CIS), the Yorkton Terriers (SJHL), and extensive work for the Saskatchewan Hockey Association before joining Hockey Alberta.

    The Coed Adult League of Central Park Ice Hockey played at Lasker Rink uses USA Hockey rules and regulations. Some rules may be modified for the in-house league use listed below. All in-house rules are designed to keep the game moving in a timely and safe manner and to discourage unruly conduct on everyone’s behalf. The Director of CPIH and Commissioner of the League’s decisions are final. All decisions regarding disciplinary actions will be based on the outcome of a meeting between league officials and the Commissioner. No appeals will be heard. The 24-hour rule applies and captains will be notified of any decisions within 48 hours of the game. Any captains or team players not abiding by these rules is subject to suspension and/or expulsion by Commissioner and/or Director. Repeat offenses can result in forfeits to any teams. *THESE MODIFIED RULES COULD BE AMENDED OR CHANGED AT ANY TIME TO ACCOMMODATE SMOOTH PLAY. ALL CAPTAINS AND PLAYERS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY CHANGES. Everett, WA — Bloodworks Northwest is joined by the Seattle Storm and Everett Silvertips in the effort to ensure a safe and reliable community blood supply amid the COVID-19 pandemic. From May 14 – June 6, 2020, the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Angel Of The Winds Arena will be transformed into a Pop-Up Donor Center experience and a lifeline for local patients. Storm and Silvertip fans are urged to make their one-hour donation appointment today as a safe and essential action to support local patients. In accordance with current social distancing guidelines, only scheduled appointments will be allowed. No walk-ins, guests, or people under age 16 are permitted onsite. On the day of their appointment, fans are invited to wear team colors and spread the word with #WeGotThis. Every donor will receive a pair of tickets to an upcoming Storm and Silvertips game. Social distancing recommendations have put a strain on opportunities to donate, as traditional blood drives and bloodmobiles are temporarily unavailable.     NHL Heroes and Servant-Leaders

    HENRIK AND DANIEL SEDIN NHL Heroes and Servant-Leaders -CAROLYN CRIPPEN AND DAVID NAGEL We all need and seek heroes in our world. A common source for heroes can be found in professional sports. This paper will introduce readers to two elite ice hockey players, Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who play for the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Team in the National Hockey League (NHL). I believe they are servant-leaders and worthy examples for our youth and adults too. After observing these two athletes over a period of two years on the ice, on television and radio broadcasts, and during interviews, plus extensive cov­ erage in the print media, I noticed uniqueness to their sty le and play. I wanted to meet them personally and talk with them. They are often referred to as The Twins-which they are, born on September 26, 1980, in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. After persistent effort addressed to the senior administration of the VancouverCanucks organization, and with approval granted by the University of Victoria Human Ethics Review Board, I was finally permitted by the Vancouver Canucks to meet with Henrik and Daniel on November 14, 2011, for ninety minutes. The Canucks' vice president for communication, T. C. Carling, was also in attendance. My doctoral student, David Nagel, accom­ panied me to the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. David was responsible for recording the interview, and for the subsequent transcription. Henrik (six minutes older than his identical twin) and Daniel joined the Vancouver Canucks in 1999 and have remained with them ever since. They began playing ice hockey at age eight.

    The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers host the Calgary Hitmen tonight for the third meeting in the course of a week between these two hockey clubs. The Tigers defeated the Hitmen 3-1 Saturday in Medicine Hat before falling 4-2 on Wednesday in Calgary. The Orange and Black are 23-11-1-1 and they are led by their Captain James Hamblin with 55 points (19G, 36A) and veteran forward Brett Kemp with 43 points (16G, 27A). After tonight’s game, the Tabbies will host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday before departing early next week to Manitoba to take on the Brandon Wheat Kings Tuesday and the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday. Tigers vs. Hitmen Tonight’s game between the Tigers and the Hitmen will be their third meeting in seven days and their fifth battle of the season. The Hitmen won all three games played at the Saddledome and the Tabbies have won the lone game played at the Canalta Centre. After tonight, Medicine Hat and Calgary will not meet again until March 6th at the Canalta Centre. The Tigers are 11-9-2-0 against the Hitmen over the past five years and 7-2-1-0 when playing at home. A trio of Tigers have four points in the four games played in the series so far – Ryan Chyzowksi (3G, 1A), James Hamblin (1G, 3A) and Cole Sillinger (1G, 3A). View from Calgary Tonight’s game against the Tigers will be the Calgary Hitmen’s fifth game in eight days since returning from their holiday break.
