Doomsday takes Steel and departs from the scene. After defeating Eradicator and his teammates, Doomsday flees the Superman: Reign of Doomsday with his body. The Cyborg Superman emerges from Boodikka's body and reveals that Doomsday has Superman: Reign of Doomsday for him. Supergirl arrives and aids Cyborg Superman against Doomsday, but Doomsday overpowers them both and teleports away with their bodies. Doomsday subsequently attacks Superboy. Superboy is overwhelmed, and Doomsday teleports to a large Superman: Reign of Doomsday spacecraft on the ruins of New Krypton. With Luthor defeated, Superman finds his allies trapped in a pocket dimension within a satellite. Superman attempts to free his allies, only for them to discover the inert body of Doomsday, as well as three separate clones - each Superman: Reign of Doomsday a different powerset designed to specifically make them capable of eliminating the Superman they were sent after. Steel notices Doomsday is beginning to regain his brain activity when they are attacked by the Doomsday clones. The heroes are met by another Doomsday clone, Doomslayer. The Eradicator, against Superman's suggestion, fights the Doomslayer and is destroyed. Doomslayer intends to crash the ship into Earth and attacks Doomsday. Superman defends Doomsday, believing Doomsday has the potential for redemption. The heroes escape the ship with the original Doomsday. Superman and his allies try to stop the ship from crashing, but are not strong enough. Superman advises Superboy, Supergirl and Steel to escape while he slows the ship down, intending to sacrifice himself. The ship falls in Metropolis's bay and creates a massive tidal wave. However, Superboy's tactile-telekinesis, Supergirl's cold breath and Steel's gravitron source dissipate the tidal wave, saving Metropolis. As Superman crawls out of the sea, Doomslayer attacks the city with the four Doomsday clones. The Doomsday clones spread across the world, wreaking havoc. Doomsday awakens, but the Eradicator speaks through him. The Eradicator, as a being of pure information, leapt into the technology Luthor used to clone Doomsday so that he could control the original Doomsday. As the Superman: Reign of Doomsday fight the Doomsday clones, Eradicator begins to feel Doomsday's mind regaining control of the body. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Lex Luthor is now empowered with the godlike abilities of the first and indigenous being of the dimension called by the Kryptonians as "The Phantom Zone", and of course, Lex wants to do his new powers to kill Superman. Now, with Superman isolated, Lex will destroy Superman with his new godlike powers. But, there is a catch The Team Superman is battling for their lives in a prison-like spaceship full of Doomsdays, each of them designed to counter-attack their signature powers. Superman: Reign of Doomsday will unite to the battle and trying to figure out the secret behind this spaceship since it's indeed more than it appears. Later, this "reign of Doomsdays" will move to Earth, where the army of Doomsday they are actually three, but about beings in Doomsday-level, three is indeed an army will attack several key sites around the globe. Team Superman will have to receive back-up of several meta-humans and superheroes and to engage each Doomsday. In the big prologue Return of Doomsdayit was said that not all can be Superman. But in this storyline, it will be shown that that's not true. Superman isn't about having a collection of superpowers. Being Superman is about to protect those who can't protect for themselves, and always willing to do the ultimate sacrifice for others. The Incident by David S. After reading some of the other reviews of this, I've come to the conclusion that not very many people actually like Superman. Even though he is also probably considered the Superman: Reign of Doomsday iconic and recognizable superhero out there. You'd think he'd get some love just for that alone, right? Not so much. After much soul-searching approximately 5 minutesI think I've come to a deeper understanding as to why so many people love to slam the Blue Boy Scout. According to every self-help guru out there After reading some of the other reviews of this, I've come to the conclusion that not very many people actually like Superman: Reign of Doomsday. According to every self-help guru out there, it's our childhood that shapes our subconscious reaction to things as adults. Personally, I subscribe to this kind of thinking so that I don't have to take any responsibility for my decisions. I find it's much easier to blame my parents. Feels good! Where was I? Oh yes, it's our parents' fault that we hate Superman. And here's why He's That Kid. You know, the one your parents were always yammering on about. As in: Why can't you be more like That Kid? I'll bet That Kid doesn't embarrass their family at dinner parties! Yeah, Superman: Reign of Doomsday all hated That Kid. And if they would have just had the decency to get busted smoking weed with the preacher's daughter, it would have made everyone's life a whole lot easier. Unfortunately, That Kid really was nice, and kind, and generous, and blah, blah, blah That explains why so many of us secretly cheered when Doomsday originally pushed Superman's face in the dirt. And it also explains why everyone usually prefaces even their 5 star reviews of his comics with something along the lines of, While I normally find Superman boring With all of this rattling around in my head, I decided to up Superman: Reign of Doomsday rating of Superman: Reign of Doomsday. Partially because I felt guilty about wanting to see a joint hanging from young Clark's lips, and partially because this Superman: Reign of Doomsday a decent story. Well, the parts that I understood, anyway. I also realized that I was probably missing some pretty pertinent back-story, and I Superman: Reign of Doomsday really blame anyone other than myself for that. Although, it could be my parents' fault View all 9 comments. Aug 12, Jesse A rated it liked it Shelves: library-it-upgraphic-novels. It argues that this connection was not integral to the character as he was originally created, but was imposed by later writers over time and mainly for cinematic adaptations. This thesis also tracks the history of how Christians and churches viewed Superman, as the film studios began to exploit marketing opportunities by comparing Superman and Jesus. This thesis uses the methodological framework of intertextuality to ground its treatment of the sources, but does not follow all of the assumptions of intertextual theorists. iii MA Thesis—Robert Revington; McMaster University, Religious Studies ABSTRACT This thesis examines the historical trajectory of how the comic book character of Superman came to be identified as a Christ figure in popular consciousness. Superman was created in 1938, but the character developed significantly from his earliest incarnations.

Baker iv ABSTRACT COSTUME CULTURE: VISUAL RHETORIC, ICONOGRAPHY, AND TOKENISM IN COMIC BOOKS Michael G. Baker, PhD Texas A&M University-Commerce, 2017 Advisor: Christopher Gonzalez, PhD Superhero comic books provide a unique perspective on marginalized characters not only as objects of literary study, but also as opportunities for rhetorical analysis. There are representations of race, gender, sexuality, and identity in the costuming of superheroes that impact how the audience perceives the characters. Because of the association between iconography and identity, the superhero costume becomes linked with the superhero persona (for example the Superman “S” logo is a stand-in for the character). However, when iconography is affected by issues of tokenism, the rhetorical message associated with the symbol becomes more difficult to decode. Since comic books are sales-oriented and have a plethora of tie-in merchandise, the iconography in these symbols has commodified implications for those who choose to interact with them. When consumers costume themselves with the visual rhetoric associated with comic superheroes, the wearers engage in a rhetorical discussion where they perpetuate whatever message the audience places on that image.

  • Peer Review: Delia Gonzalez Interviews Eli Sudbrack
January 5, 2018 - As told to Delia Gonzalez, 905 words. Tags: Art, Process, Inspiration. Peer Review: Delia Gonzalez interviews Eli Sudbrack Read: Eli Sudbrack interviews Delia Gonzalez What do you do when you’re creatively stuck? I work more. I’m totally obsessive. I’m good at multitasking and I’m always working on multiple things at same time, so if I’m stuck with one thing, I just move on to another one. I wish I would respond this question by saying that I go out biking or for a walk or to the beach, but in reality that never happens. I’m very good at focusing on my work when I’m at the studio. I hardly ever leave even for food. Once I’m at the studio, I’m there working for like 8 hours straight—no breaks. How do you avoid burnout? I don’t. I always work to the max. But I do have rules. I arrive early at my studio everyday around 8am and leave max at around 6pm. I don’t work on the weekends. My cell is always on silent even when I’m at the studio. I don’t answer or check my phone after I get back home from the studio. And if I go away for holidays I never work. I don’t take my computer and avoid my phone as much as possible. So if I’m away I’m really away, no work. How do you nourish your creative side when you aren’t working? Beach, biking, spending time with my beau without talking about art, reading Marvel comics (old and new), walking, spending time under the sun.
