Over three centuries of centuries publishing three scholarly Over Book Series in Medieval Studies MEDIEVAL STUDIES MEDIEVAL BRILL CATALOG 2 Welcome! This booklet offers an overview of Brill’s current book series in medieval studies. Brill has a well-established and active publishing portfolio in medieval studies, with strengths in a range of thematic disciplines – from art history and literature, to history, through to philosophy and theology – and offering a broad geographical coverage, focusing on historically less-studied regions as well as the traditionally-perceived heartlands of medieval Europe. This is reflected in our varied book series, with long-running classics such as The Medieval Mediterranean and The Northern World sitting alongside newer offerings, such as Medieval and Renaissance Authors and Texts and Explorations in Medieval Culture. While most of our series publish academic monographs, edited collections of essays, and text editions, we also offer a number of companion series on a (growing) range of topics. STUDIES MEDIEVAL Founded in 1683 in Leiden, the Netherlands, Brill has over 330 years of experience in scholarly publishing. Academic excellence is paramount; all of our books are peer reviewed, and decisions are taken jointly between Brill and the relevant series editors, who are experts in their respective fields. We also place particular emphasis on efficiency. Since the vast majority of our books are published within a series, decisions can be taken speedily, because a network of reviewers is already in place; and once the manuscript is in its final state, we offer one of the fastest production timelines in the business. Despite being over three centuries old, we’re also not afraid to move with the times. All of our 1 books are published simultaneously in print and electronic format, we offer a range of Open Access options, and our books are also available to purchase in the paperback Brill BRILL CATALOG MyBook format. We welcome expressions of interest from prospective authors. Full details of each book series (including all previous and forthcoming titles) can be found on our website, as can guidelines on submitting a book proposal. I am always very happy to talk with prospective authors about their projects, at whatever stage – from mere inklings to fully-fledged manuscripts. I am to be found at major conferences in the field (and sometimes minor ones too), and also contactable via e-mail: [email protected]. Proposals for new book series are also welcome, and while this booklet focuses on Brill’s book publications in medieval studies, we also publish journals, reference works (including bibliographies, dictionaries, and encyclopedias), and primary source collections online. Come by the Brill booth at a conference or drop me a line if you would like to know more.
