Subscribe Past Issues Translate RSS Play now NZ Officials Selected for Tokyo Olympics New Zealand Officials Dimitar Trifunovski, Christine McKnight and Matthew Burrell have been selected to officiate at the Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo respectively. Auckland official Dimitar Trifunovski who works full time on the international circuit has been selected as a Line Umpire at the Olympics. This is Dimitar’s second time working at the Olympics. Previously he was a line official at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Auckland official Christine McKnight, ITF Silver Badge Chief has been selected to be Assistant Chief for the Paralympics. This is the first time a New Zealand official has been selected for this role. Christine has been a Line Umpire at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Paralympics. ‘ I am excited about working in a different role at the Paralympics – excited but nervous about going to Japan too!!!” Christine quotes. Wellington official Matthew Burrell, ITF White Badge has been selected for his first Olympics as a Line Umpire for the Paralympics. First Ever Deliverers Course for Kura Teachers Subscribe Past Issues Translate RSS Last week we hosted the first ever Tennis Hot Shots/Cardio Tennis deliverers course for kura teachers at Kaikohe Intermediate school. Fourteen schools were represented along with 34 participants. It was a rewarding experience watching the teachers/kaimahi get out there and play, plan, talk about constraints, and how best to implement National Programmes within the school curriculum. We are grateful to all those involved for the opportunity to give Northland communities a chance to play and learn the game of tennis. Learn more New Courts in Dunedin Unveiled Earlier this month Tennis Otago unveiled the newly named Stevenson Tennis Centre. The project, which had its origins in 2015, has been worth about $900,000 so far and consists of the upgrading 10 of the 26 courts on site. While it is hoped to be a drawcard for bigger tournaments, the centre is set to also have an impact on local tennis.
