He provides data and analysis relating to the Portland economy to local businesses, business associations and government agencies to facilitate intelligent decision making. Before coming to the Employment Department eighteen years ago, Christian worked in vari- ous positions in Oregon politics and policy. She is the regional subject matter expert, point-of-contact, and program coordinator for implementation and enforcement program of the Disclosure Rule, Renovate, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP), and the Lead- based Paint Activities Rule. For the last 30 years, Mr. Long has held a variety of positions in state service and now leads the Oregon Building Codes Division which is part of the Department of Consumer and Business Services, the state’s largest business regulatory agency. During his 30 years of public service, Mr. Long has devel- oped practical knowledge of the construction industry including workforce development and training, construction regulation, and the influence of the construction industry on our economy. His organization sets standards for all building construction in Oregon, oversees 130 city and county municipalities providing local building inspections and licenses 42,000 trades workers. 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm Lunch Q&A with Val Hoyle, Commissioner of Labor & Industries I’m From The Government & I’m Here To Help You — Really Val Hoyle was born at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California on February 14th, 1964 and grew up in New England. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Studies from Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts. Hoyle was appointed to a seat in the Oregon House of Representatives in 2009, then was elected to the seat in 2010, 2012 and 2014. In 2012, Hoyle was elected by her legislative colleagues as House Majority Leader and served in that role through the 2015 legislative session. In May of 2018, Val Hoyle was elected to be the tenth Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries. David’s dedication to his clients helped him be one of the top Marketing Representatives in the company for both Property Casualty as well as Life & Disability Income Sales. David, his wife Sarah and three children, Bennett, Ezra and Emerson reside in Newberg, Oregon. David loves the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
