Connect the supplied AC Power Cord to the AC Socket at the back of unit. When the AC power cord is plugged in, the batteries are automatically disconnected. BATTERY OPERATION The unit cannot be operated by battery when the AC power cord is connected. Open the battery cover and put the batteries as indicated inside the battery compartment. BATTERY PRECAUTIONS Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device: 1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified. 2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the batteries compartment. 3. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc) or old batteries with fresh ones. 4. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage. 5. Do not try to recharge batteries that are not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (Follow battery manufacturer's directions). INSTALLING THE REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY CR2025 1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of OPEN the remote control by pushing the tab to the right while removing the cover. PUSH 2. Insert a 3V lithium battery (CR2025 or equivalent) following the polarity (+) as shown on the diagram inside the compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. Note: The remote control battery normally lasts for about one year, although it depends on how often the remote control is used. If the remote control is not working properly, replace the battery. PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING BATTERIES 1. CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is not inserted correctly. Replace only with the same or equivalent type. 2. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. alkaline, rechargeable and standard (carbon zinc) or old batteries with fresh ones.) 3. Exhausted batteries must be removed to prevent possible leakage. 4. We go through one at least every six months due to CD's skipping and connection/power issues. Please post make & model on elist. Responses: I bought a waterproof boombox from Brookstone, but it is ONLY for ipods. It has a remote, which is really great, and the ipod is protected in an enclosure. GREAT Sound, even for an outdoor pool! About $99. The construction industry makes outdoor moisture boomboxes that play ipods. They are built to stay in on piece if a bomb goes off. Check the tool department in large hardware or home stores building. Sony ZS-H10CP Heavy-Duty CD Radio Boombox. Found it on Amazon.com for $109.85. It requires a patch cord to plug in an ipod. I have owned 3 Sony Waterproof boomboxes over the last 20 years and all had superior sound. It is bigger than most portables and is encased w/sturdy plastic w/a handle for ease in carrying. It plugs in or works on battery. This heavy duty box replaced several others which did not stand the test of time, and the assault of air travel, salt and fresh water and salt air. It has been going strong now for quite a while without a hitch and still looks good. It does not use cassettes but does use CD’s and has an ipod connection. Currently I use one from Frontgate catalog for about $300.00.

    SP-B1 Boombox User Guide FCC Regulations This unit complies with the interference limits relative to a Class B digital device, applicable under Part 15 of the FCC Rules regarding installation in a residential environment. If the unit is not installed in accordance with these instructions, it could cause harmful interference to audio or television reception. If this condition persists after corrective action, consult your dealer or experienced installation facility. Cautions and Warnings 1. Within the home, do not install the SP-B1 Boombox in a position that obstructs viewing of any home entertainment component, such as television, or stereo system indicators and displays. 2. Take care when using the SP-B1 Boombox for prolonged periods in direct sunlight to ensure that surfaces do not get excessively heated, potentially causing deformation. Do not operate in areas subject to extreme temperatures; do not operate the unit in moist areas, in rain, or in areas adjacent to water such as pools, hot tubs, etc. 3. When outdoors, position the SP-B1 and antenna where there are no obvious satellite signal obstructions such as high terrain, trees, overhangs, etc. 4. When installed indoors, unplug the AC Power Adapter from the wall outlet when the SP-B1 is not to be used for an extended period of time.
