  • Cheetahs Want to Repay the Hospitality
“Ons het nou klaar die twee monsterspanne, Munster en Ulster, in die Pro 14 gespeel en ek A few of the players that we will be seeing in action during the Guinness Pro14: (L-R) Gethin Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), Tiernan O’Halloran (Connacht), dink van hier kan ons moontlik die lig begin CJ Stander (Munster), Dan Lydiate (Ospreys), Ryan Wilson (Glasgow Warriors), Tommaso Castello (Zebre) and Niell Jordaan (Toyota Cheetahs) PHOTO: BILLY STICKLAND sien.

“You've got to give it to World Rugby, they've made a right mess with this World Test League. So many questions still unanswered – not just who is in and out – but what about travel, fatigue, watering down test rugby, etc.” - Brenden Nel Volume 19, Number 7 07 March 2019 Register to receive your own free weekly newsletter at www.leopardnewsletters.co.za Yesterday’s Heros are Today’s Also-Rans A year ago, the Blitzbokke were on top of the world after round five of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series – literally. Sitting atop the standings 10 points clear of second-placed New Zealand and 13 points ahead of eventual runners-up, Fiji. What a difference a year makes. This year they’re languishing in fifth on the table a full 31 points behind the leaders, USA. At the halfway mark, they already have virtually zero chance of winning the title for a third consecutive year. That together with untimely injuries to key playmakers Branco du Preez and Justin Geduld as So how did they fall so fast and so hard? It’s also Rugby: Tim Agaba, Ruhan Nel, Sikhumbuzo Notshe, instructive to hear what Dylan Sage has to say about Dylan Sage, Seabelo Senatla, Kwagga Smith and it in an interview with Brenden Nel. An international manhunt was well under way for the plotters behind the world’s biggest-ever computer ransom assault. The indiscrimi- nate attack, which began Friday, struck banks, hospitals and government agencies in more than 150 countries, exploiting known vulnerabilities in old Microsoft com- puter operating systems. US package delivery giant FedEx, European car facto- ries, Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica, Britain’s health service and Germany’s Deutsche Bahn rail network were among those hit. Europol executive director Rob Wainwright said the situation could worsen today as workers return to their offices after the weekend and log on. “We’ve never seen anything like this,” the head of the European Union’s policing agency told Britain’s ITV televi- sion, calling its reach “unprecedented”. “The latest count is over 200,000 victims in at least 150 countries. Many of those victims will be businesses, including large corporations. We’re in the face of an esca- lating threat.

  • Hsbc World Rugby Sevens Series 2019
HSBC WORLD RUGBY SEVENS SERIES 2019 Sydney Notes ! This will be the first time the HSBC Sydney Sevens has been played at Spotless Stadium after relocating from Allianz Stadium due to its redevelopment. ! Spotless Stadium becomes the sixth different venue to be used in Australia after Lang Park and Ballymore hosted the event in Brisbane between 2000-03, Adelaide Oval between 2007-11, Robina Stadium between 2011- 14 and Allianz Stadium for the past three years. ! Spotless Stadium was opened in 1998 after being constructed as part of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games development at Homebush. It hosted the baseball, horse-riding and the modern pentathlon events during the Games. ! More recently it has been home to the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL, the Western Sydney Wanders in soccer’s A-League and the Sydney Thunder in cricket’s Big Bash League. ! Australia are the defending champions in Sydney and are looking to become the first team since Fiji five years ago to successfully defend their Cup title at home. ! Only two teams have gone back-to-back in Australia with South Africa winning in Adelaide in 2008-09 and Fiji winning on the Gold Coast in 2011-12. ! The record for most tournament tries scored in Sydney is 268, set in 2016, while the record for an HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series event in Australia is 284 tries set in Adelaide in 2011 and on the Gold Coast in 2014. ! The tournament average so far this season has been 281 tries, with Cape Town top scoring with 293 tries.
