If you ask anyone who has studied over seas, he or she will most certainly tell you that it is a life- changing and most rewarding experience. WhiCh program is For me? n exchange program the university of manitoba has signed agreements with various universities abroad that allow you to have an overseas education for at-home prices. currently we have over 40 active student exchange agreements around the world on nearly every continent. courses are taught by these exchange universities during the normal academic year in places such as Australia, germany, ghana, mexico, Japan, sweden, turkey, and France. the university credited courses can be taken in either English or in the country’s official language. n travel study/Field study travel study/Field study courses are university of manitoba courses taught by university of manitoba professors in locations other than our Winnipeg campuses. the courses run from a few days to several weeks and generally take place over the summer months providing you with hands-on exploration such as archaeological digs in the mediterranean and/or north Africa and cultural/ language experience in India, Iceland, Poland, ukraine, and baffin Island.t he Faculty of Arts directly sponsors a Winter term in morelia, mexico, and the Icelandic summer school in Iceland. So, I thought I would ask her to write about her experience as a graduate student, and how her education at U of Manitoba helped her settle well and be successful at U of Michigan. Nariman Sepehri (Associate Head, Graduate Studies) Reflections by Sara Spangelo As I write this article, I’ve been spending a good deal of time reflecting about where I am, and how I got here. I’ve just completed my qualifying exam at the University of Michigan, so I am now considered a PhD candidate. When academics hear you’re prepping for this exam, they respond smiling sympathetically (glad they’ve jumped through this hoop in their academic careers), well aware how overwhelming this study experience lasting several months can be. But this was just the end of a long haul of changes, learning experiences, and whole new set of challenges I’ve faced over the past year and a half. I left Manitoba following the completion of my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 to first pursue a summer internship at the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies (UTIAS) and then attend grad school in the Aerospace Department at the University of Michigan.

The Hungarian Medical Association of America (HMAA) established in 1968 exists to preserve and promote the rich traditions and contributions by Hungarians to the practice of Medicine. The HMAA provides support for a medical student and fellow exchange between Hungary and the United States. The HMAA also encourages transatlantic collaboration through its annual October scientific meeting in Sarasota and through awards given to promising young researchers. The Balatonfured conference is an opportunity for Hungarian students from all the Hungarian Medical Universities to showcase their research in a relaxed lakeside environment. Presentations in English are encouraged and the opportunity is available for the winner to travel to Sarasota to present their work. Social activities are planned so that participants may meet one another as well as HMAA leadership who are physicians in clinical practice in the United States. The conference could not go on without the generous contributions of a number of individuals and institutions.
