TeamUp Fantasy MLB Power Rankings (7/29 - 8/4) https://www.teamupfantasy.com/ 1. San Francisco Giants (62-37) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: 10,996 Movement: None The Giants are still under the $11,000 threshold despite maintaining the best record in . This past week, they once again proved any doubters that still may be out there wrong by going on the road to take three of four from the Dodgers. They should be in all TeamUp portfolios this week and for the rest of the season. 2. (61-39) (7-3 L10) TeamUp Value: $11,128 Movement: 2 The Astros jumped to number two in our rankings this week - the highest they’ve been all season - on the backs of winning five of six since our last rankings came out. They are a no-brainer elite play in TeamUp portfolios. 3. Los Angeles Dodgers (61-40) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $12,291 Movement: 1 Despite dropping a spot this week, the Dodgers are still as stable as they come in terms of the top teams to have in your TeamUp portfolio. Keep firing them up in your lineup if you have the cap space to pay the hefty price. 4. (62-39) (7-3 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,611 Movement: 1 At $10,611, the Red Sox are valued as more of a team in the middle of these rankings than one that is among baseball’s elite. They won’t be slowing down anytime soon, making Boston arguably the top bang-for-your-buck play in TeamUp. 5. White Sox (59-41) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $11,310 Movement: 2 The White Sox have been one of the top teams in baseball all season, and now are getting star outfielder Eloy Jimenez back from injury as they look to push for the top record in the . The return of Jimenez makes the Pale Hose an even stronger play in TeamUp lineups this week and beyond. 6. Tampa Bay Rays (60-40) (7-3 L10) TeamUp Value: $11,453 Movement: 1 The second-highest valued team in TeamUp has mostly lived up to that billing, but at a significantly higher price point than the first-place Red Sox, there might not be space for them in your TeamUp portfolio. If you can manage to have both, that’s great, but if you can only choose one, go with the cheaper, overperforming team in Boston. 7. Milwaukee Brewers (58-42) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,731 Movement: 1 The Brewers have been playing average-ish baseball over the past couple weeks, which is slightly concerning. However, the pieces are still in place and the potential for a big deadline acquisition looms. We’re still believers. 8. San Diego Padres (58-44) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $11,320 Movement: None You’re not in the wrong if you have the Padres in your portfolio, but the Dodgers are more consistent, albeit at a higher value, and the Giants are performing better at a lower TeamUp value. The trade for Adam Frazier over the weekend could vault the Padres back into the conversation with the top two teams in the NL West. 9. Oakland A’s (56-45) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,835 Movement: None The A’s are still firmly locked into the ninth spot in our rankings, and have enough separation from the pack above and below them that they would need a significant winning or losing streak to move up or down. They’re kind of in a tier of their own as a decent, but far from elite TeamUp play. 10. New York Mets (53-45) (6-4 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,279 Movement: 1 The Mets don’t really feel like a top-10 team, but the options are sparse for this spot, leaving them here almost by default. A big swing could be coming at the trade deadline and serve to change these passive feelings, but for now, they’re a solid, but lower-upside play in TeamUp, even as the best team in the NL East. 11. Seattle Mariners (54-46) (6-4 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,624 Movement: 4 As owners of the lowest team batting average in MLB and a -52 run differential, we have no idea how the Mariners are doing what they’re doing. However, 100 games is too much of a sample size to chalk it up as a total fluke, so we’re officially on the bandwagon. They’re a great play in TeamUp based on value, but take it week-by-week, with the understanding that this could all come crashing down at any time. 12. New York Yankees (51-47) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,697 Movement: None We’ve wondered for a while now if the Yankees will ever make the jump into a higher tier of our rankings, closer to where we expected them during the preseason, but it just doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Definitely pick Boston, who has 11 more wins and a lower TeamUp value, for your portfolio over the Yankees. 13. Toronto Blue Jays (49-47) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,227 Movement: 3 Toronto is a fun team to watch and one that will be a playoff contender in the years ahead, but they just aren’t quite ready to truly contend with the big boys this season. Presently, they’re valued as they should be in TeamUp, but keep an eye on them to be undervalued headed into next year. 14. Cincinnati Reds (51-49) (3-7 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,822 Movement: 1 The Reds have been just about a .500 team all season, and we don’t think they have the fire power or a deadline deal up their sleeve to change that. However, you need teams in this tier of the rankings to round out your profile, and the Reds are a good choice for that given their sub-$10,000 value and weak division. 15. Philadelphia Phillies (50-49) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,690 Movement: 1 We still like the Phillies as a high-upside team to break out and move up in our rankings in the last two months of the season, despite the one spot drop here. Expect the always-aggressive to make a deadline trade or two to address their flailing bullpen and push this roster toward the playoffs. 16. Cleveland Indians (49-48) (4-6 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,241 Movement: None The biggest news out of Cleveland this week wasn’t the play on the field, but the unveiling of a new team name and logo that sounds and looks like it came straight out of the rejects folder for the XFL. On the field, they have been the definition of average all season, and are a passable, but very low upside play in TeamUp. 17. (50-49) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,524 Movement: None Mike Trout’s return looks to be coming soon, so optimists could be convinced that the Angels are good enough value to put in their TeamUp portfolio, expecting a hot stretch after his return. We don’t entirely disagree, but understand the history of the Angels losing despite Trout’s greatness, and Houston, Oakland, and Seattle are all reasonably priced teams outperforming Los Angeles right now. 18. Atlanta Braves (49-51) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $10,051 Movement: None The Braves are another team that was expected to be much higher in these rankings at the beginning of the season, and some fans may have spent the first 100 games waiting for them to go on a run and jump back into that tier. That looks very unlikely at this point, especially with Ronald Acuña Jr. done for the year. Don’t consider the Braves anything more than a .500 team that probably is better left out of your portfolio. 19. St. Louis Cardinals (50-50) (6-4 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,911 Movement: None Another very disappointing team in the first 100 games this season, the Cardinals are not in realistic playoff contention despite making a big splash to get Nolan Arenado in the offseason. They are another team with some perceived potential, but not one that you should not bank on making a late run. There are better TeamUp options out there. 20. Chicago Cubs (50-51) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,864 Movement: None We suspect that when you read these rankings, there could be some very familiar faces no longer wearing the Chicago Cub pinstripes. At least some combination of Anthony Rizzo, Javy Báez, Kris Bryant, and Craig Kimbrel appear to be on their way out now that the Cubs have fallen fully out of contention. The imminent sell-off means they are a poor pick in TeamUp. 21. Detroit Tigers (47-55) (6-4 L10) TeamUp Value: $8,605 Movement: 2 The Tigers have been playing very good baseball for an extended period, and they’ve been doing it at a much lower TeamUp value than the teams in the middle tier of these rankings. We like them as a value last active pick for your portfolio, leaving extra cash to splurge on adding another elite team. 22. (45-54) (3-7 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,361 Movement: 1 A weekend sweep at the hands of the lowly Orioles followed up by a blown lead on Monday night in Philadelphia feels like it seals Washington’s fate. The Nats have followed up a great June with a horrific July, likely shifting the usually-buying Mike Rizzo into sell mode at the trade deadline. The question now becomes whether finds a new home or not. 23. Miami Marlins (43-57) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $8,624 Movement: 1 Miami has significantly underperformed their underlying metrics all season, and with a sample size this large, we see no reason that will change, especially as Starling Marte and potentially others are likely on their way out before Friday afternoon’s deadline. If you need a team at this value, go with the Tigers instead. 24. Colorado Rockies (43-57) (4-6 L10) TeamUp Value: $8,243 Movement: 1 The Rockies were expected to be awful this season, but have somewhat held their own in a very tough NL West. However, Trevor Story looks as good as gone at the deadline and there are three teams in the division that are much stronger choices for TeamUp, leaving no room for the Rockies in portfolios. 25. Kansas City Royals (43-55) (7-3 L10) TeamUp Value: $8,258 Movement: 1 The Royals are on a very random six-game winning streak, but we aren’t going to get caught up in what is almost assuredly an aberration that is bound to not last. We still do not advise the Royals in TeamUp, even in a very weak division. The Tigers are a better team and have a similar value. 26. Minnesota Twins (43-58) (4-6 L10) TeamUp Value: $9,411 Movement: 2 As the only team in the bottom eight teams to have a TeamUp value over $9,000, it goes without saying that the Twins are valued far too highly than their on-field performance suggests they should be. This is another team that had preseason expectations of contention that never came to fruition, and it won’t in the season’s final months either. 27. Pittsburgh Pirates (38-61) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $7,195 Movement: None The Pirates have been playing decent baseball since the All-Star break and took two of three from the Giants this past week. Unfortunately, they also got swept by the Diamondbacks. Despite the more competent play, there is still no reason to make the Pirates active in TeamUp. 28. Baltimore Orioles (34-64) (6-4 L10) TeamUp Value: $6,925 Movement: 1 The Orioles played spoiler to the hopes of contention for their beltway rivals in the Nationals over the weekend, so they come into this week on a 3-game winning streak. Despite the good weekend vibes, we still strongly encourage TeamUp players to avoid the O’s in their lineups. 29. Texas Rangers (35-65) (0-10 L10) TeamUp Value: $7,377 Movement: 1 No one expected the Rangers to contend with the Astros to win the AL West, but we also did not expect them to be this terrible. Alas, here we are with the Rangers mired in a 12-game losing streak and look almost certain to sell off their two most productive players, Joey Gallo and Kyle Gibson, at the trade deadline. Times are tough at the brand-new Globe Life Park. 30. (31-70) (5-5 L10) TeamUp Value: $7,124 Movement: None The Diamondbacks have been much more respectable out of the All-Star break, in part due to being much healthier than earlier in the season. Clearly, this team isn’t going anywhere, but we suspect a much more competitive last two months are on the horizon. That being said, considering the 70 losses and the three elite teams in the division, the Diamondbacks should still be nowhere near your TeamUp radar.
