Introduction to MN Campus Alliance

Our Mission MN Campus Alliance strives to build a statewide network of individuals and organizations working for equity and justice on issues of gender and sexual diversity; empowers the voices of groups that are underserved and underrepresented in our campus communities to become advocates and allies of change; and create welcoming, affirming, and safe environments on college and university campuses throughout the state of Minnesota.

Our Vision The MN Campus Alliance envisions a Minnesota where every college and university campus is welcoming, safe, and affirming for all students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members with regard to gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

Our History In 2004, under the coordination of individuals from Metropolitan State University and OutFront Minnesota, students and staff from private colleges, the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities System, and the University of Minnesota System met to discuss creating a statewide network to support students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members working for change on Minnesota campuses. In March 2006, an interim leadership team was created at the first annual Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC). At MOCC 2006, the first MN Campus Alliance Executive Board was elected, comprised of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members from colleges and universities around Minnesota. Since then we have trained over 3,800 people across the state of Minnesota.

Statement of Diversity and Inclusion The MN Campus Alliance is committed in affirming the dignity and promoting the diversity and respect of all persons in our campus communities with regard to one's gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or identity, sex, affectional preference, race, ethnicity, culture, age, religious or spiritual belief, class or socioeconomic status, residential status, military or veteran status, political affiliation, marital or familial status, disability/ies (visible and/or invisible) or openness of any of the aforementioned.

The MN Campus Alliance is steadfast in breaking the silence surrounding gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, Two Spirit, intersex, queer, questioning, genderqueer, gender variant, pansexual, omnisexual, asexual, and allied persons. Through open meetings, presentations, trainings, social gatherings, and conferences, the MN Campus Alliance will promote learning and understanding surrounding the mosaic of diverse experiences, identities, and cultures working for peace, justice, equality, and respect for all persons in society.

Our Programs & Services GLBTA Trainings MN Campus Alliance can provide customized educational trainings on GLBTA issues for your campus or organization. Ally Trainings focus on how to be an ally to the GLBT community and how to create safer spaces on your campuses. Train the Trainer workshops will provide leaders on your campus the tools necessary to offer ongoing ally trainings tailored for your institution.

Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC) MOCC is the Minnesota GLBTA college conference. It rotates annually to a different campus and is held every Fall. MOCC features keynotes, workshops, entertainment, and networking for GLBTA campus communities.

Again, following the law of Christian love that compels us to love and honor God first, and also to respect and love one another as ourselves, we naturally understand that this gift from God is to be reserved for relations between a husband and wife. All abuses of this gift, such as premarital sex, extramarital sex, and homosexuality will not be tolerated, but dealt with in a spirit of repentance and forgiveness, as the Scriptures instruct. Though there is much room for discussion and education of these subjects, there will also be no toleration of any public promotion of those things which contradict the Bible’s instruction regarding human sexuality” (2013).

The St. Olaf Queer Support and Outreach house strives to be a resource for the St. Olaf and the Northfield communities at large. STOQSO will be putting on a number of workshops and meetings throughout the year to foster understanding about LGBT issues and educate about non-normative sexual health. STOQSO will also host a number of social events for St. Olaf, including movie nights and trips to queer clubs in the cities. We also aim to work with our neighbor across the river, Carleton, to run actions, throw social events and just be good buds.
