A total of 02 water samples collected for H2S test and found fit for consumption.. All cases treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Kalayanpur, PHC/Block Naharani. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Active case search done. Cases presented AS/DBG/2020/09/ Food Under with headache, fever, diarrhea, pain abdomen and Assam Dibrugarh 15 00 26-02-20 28-02-20 0180 Poisoning Surveillance vomiting after consuming food in a social gathering. Water samples collected and sent to Public Health department, result awaited. All cases treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Titabor, BPHC Bojalkota, SC 2 no. Ajay Nagar. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Active case search done. Cases presented with fever, pain abdomen, generalized weakness and AS/JRT/2020/09/0 Suspected Under body ache. The health and hygiene in the affected Assam Jorhat 09 00 17-02-20 24-02-20 181 Typhoid Surveillance area was satisfactory. Most of the cases were below 15 years of age. A total of 03 blood samples collected and sent to Microbiology Department, JMCH, result awaited. All cases treated. Cases presented with loose stools, pain abdomen and vomiting after AS/LKM/2020/09/ Food consuming food in a social gathering. A total of 03 Assam Lakhimpur 81 00 22-02-20 26-02-20 Under Control 0182 Poisoning rectal swab samples collected and showed growth of E. coli in all 03 samples. A total of 02 water samples were collected and were found unfit by MPN test. All cases treated. Health education given on hand hygiene and personal hygiene. Cases reported from Village/SC Monkhooshi, BPHC Hapjan. District RRT investigated the AS/TIN/2020/09/0 Under outbreak. Active cases search done. Cases presented Assam Tinsukia Chickenpox 25 00 22-02-20 29-02-20 with fever, headache and vesicular eruption. All 183 Surveillance cases belonged to the tea tribe community. The affected household had poor sanitation and hygiene. All cases treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Dharamjuli Jungle, SC Rajagarh, MPHC Pachim Patla, BPHC Khoirabari. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Active case AS/UAL/2020/09/ Under search done. Cases presented with fever with rash. Assam Udalguri Chickenpox 08 00 20-02-20 28-02-20 No travel history noted. The hygienic condition in 0184 Surveillance the affected area was found to be poor. A total of 03 serum samples were collected and sent to GMCH, Guwahati, result awaited. All cases treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Pakari, APHC Mandil, PHC Sikariya, Block Sadar. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Active case search conducted. Cases presented with fever, BH/JAH/2020/09/ papulovesicular rash. Male were more affected than Bihar Jahanabad Chickenpox 17 00 22-02-20 28-02-20 Under Control 0185 female. Most cases belonged to the age group 4-10 years. A total of 05 blood samples were collected and sent to PMCH, Patna, result awaited. All cases treated. Health education given on sanitation and hygiene. Cases reported from Village Khuparbunda (Aganvadi), SC Badda, PHC Khaidipada, Taluk AS/NAR/2020/09/ Food Under Dediyapada. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Gujarat Narmada 09 00 27-02-20 27-02-20 0186 Poisoning Surveillance Active case search done. Cases occurred probably due to consumption of contaminated milk. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Pakur Chickenpox 28 00 17-02-20 29-02-20 House to house survey conducted. A total of 07 0188 d Surveillance blood samples collected and sent to RIMS Ranchi, result awaited. All cases treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Poreyahat Devdand, Shyamlaltuddu Memorial Middle School Chorbad. JH/GDA/2020/09/ Jharkhan Food District RRT investigated the outbreak. Cases Godda 14 00 02-03-20 03-03-20 Under Control 0189 d Poisoning presented with pain abdomen, headache, nausea after consuming puffed rice with ghugni. All cases treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Jangiburu, HSC Mahaburu, CHC Manjhari. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Cases presented with JH/WSI/2020/09/0 Jharkhan West Under fever and maculopapular rash. All cases were below Chickenpox 32 00 25-02-20 28-02-20 190 d Singhbhum Surveillance 20 years of age. A total of 05 blood samples collected and sent to DPHL Sadar Chaibasa, result awaited. All cases isolated and treated. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Nagavalli, SC Nallur Acute Mole, PHC Nagavalli. Chlorination of overhead tanks done in the Disease affected area. A total of 06 blood serum samples collected and sent to DSL Raichur, of this 01 sample was found positive for Chikungunya by IgM ELISA. All cases treated. Fogging done in the affected area. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Vellamunda, HSC Palayana, PHC Vellamunda, Block Manathavady. Acute District RRT investigated the outbreak. House to KL/WYN/2020/09 Under house survey conducted. Cases presented with loose Kerala Wayanad Diarrheal 47 00 21-02-20 26-02-20 /0193 Surveillance stools and pain abdomen. A total of 05 stool samples Disease collected and sent to MCVR, result awaited. All cases treated. Medical camp organized in the affected area. Health education given. Cases reported from Village Pirewadi, Akola Lohsar Joharwadi Malewadi Dangewadi, Taluk Pathardi. District RRT investigated the outbreak. House to MH/AMN/2020/0 Maharash Suspected house survey conducted. Cases presented with fever Ahmednagar 08 00 17-02-20 27-02-20 Under Control with rash. All cases gave history of measles 9/0194 tra Measles vaccination. A total of 05 serum samples collected and sent to Haffkine Lab, Mumbai, result awaited. All cases treated. Vitamin A given to cases. Health education given. Cases reported from Padve Dhangar, SC Kalane, PHC Morgaon, Taluk Dodamarg. District RRT Kyassanur investigated the outbreak. State and District MH/SIN/2020/09/ Maharash Under NVBDCP officials were informed. The deceased Sindudurng Forest 02 01 17-02-20 24-02-20 0195 tra (Kudal) Surveillance was a 70y/M. A total of 07 samples collected and Disease sent to NIV Pune result awaited. All cases treated. Larvicidal measures and tick control measures undertaken. Health education given.     Anand B. Rao is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai. He teaches courses related to Energy, Environment and Climate Policy at CTARA, at IDP in Climate Studies and at the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay. Anand received his Ph.D. from the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA, focusing on the techno- economic and environmental aspects of carbon capture systems for power plants. His post-doctoral research, also at Carnegie Mellon University, was in the area of oxyfuel combustion and a comparative assessment of different carbon capture technologies. He holds a master’s degree (M.Tech.) in Environmental Science and Engineering and a bachelor’s degree (B.Tech.) in Chemical Engineering, both from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His areas of research interest include Energy and Environment, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Technology Assessment, Carbon Capture and Sequestration, Bioenergy, and Clean Development Mechanism. His energy research is focused on understanding the barriers and problems in deployment and adoption of “green(er) energy solutions”.
