MSP 2016 DESIGNERS, DIRECTORS, PRODUCERS Will Coeur (Lighting Designer, Rock) is a proud alumnus of SIU Department of Theater, graduating with a BA degree in 2008. Since that time, Will has worked professionally across the country in theaters both big and small. Currently, Will is pursuing a MFA degree in lighting design from Western Illinois University. Will is thrilled to return to MSP, having designed Legally Blonde last summer. Will would like to thank Mark and Tom for this wonderful opportunity, as well as his friends, family and Sarah for their love and support. Wes Drummond (Resident Artistic Director/Director/Choreographer, Rock, Bring It On/Director, Pinocchio) just completed the 2015 national tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. He is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and an alumnus of Western Kentucky University. Recent credits include: Assistant to the Director - Oliver! - Paper Mill Playhouse; Assistant Director - Les Miserables - WPPAC; Director- Ca$h, Comfort, Sex - Manhattan Rep; Director/Choreographer- Oklahoma!, Anything Goes, and Hairspray!- MSP. Thanks to Mom, Dad, Adam, Joseph and the rest of my amazing family for their never ending support. And of course to Tracey Moore. “It’s all GOOD.” Lindsey Eastman (Costume Designer, Rock) is a costume designer and technician currently serving the Western Kentucky University Department of Theatre and Dance as an instructor and the costume shop supervisor. Her recent designs at WKU include The Marriage of Figaro and Evening of Dance. She received her MFA from Penn State in 2014, where she designed Guys and Dolls and Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. Lindsey is thrilled to be returning for her second season at MSP. Caitlin Entwistle (Costume Shop Manager) is thrilled to be back at MSP for her eighth season! Previous credits with the company include Spamalot, Hair, Cinderella, and The Drowsy Chaperone. During the school year, Caitlin is the costume shop manager in the Department of Theater at SIU. Other design credits include Yerma, Twelfth Night and Ghosts (Illinois State University); The Book of Liz (Chemically Imbalanced Comedy); Shades of Heart and Birds of Paradise and Kudzu (Illinois State Dance Theatre). Caitlin holds an MFA in costume design from Illinois State University and a BS in theatre and apparel design from Central Michigan University. Thomas Fagerholm (Technical Director) holds an MFA in technical direction from Minnesota State University Mankato. He has worked on several independent ilms and interned with Cirque Du Soleil on the show Ká. Before coming to SIU, Tom served as the production manager and technical director of the Lackland Center for Performing Arts and the Centenary Stage Company at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey. During his time there he managed more than 300 events and productions, opened a short run Off-Broadway production11 at 59E59 theaters and served as assistant professor for Centenary College. .

A WORD FROM THE PRODUCERS Michael Holzer Jacque Carnahan One year ago, we came together at the Gershwin Theatre for the very first Arts for Autism concert. Dozens of Broadway actors joined more than 150 young performers to take part in a show that inspired, educated and entertained us. It was uplifting to see so many passionate artists collaborate to raise awareness, encourage acceptance and to celebrate the power of the arts. We also witnessed the Broadway debut of Gina Hitsos, a young singer with autism who found her voice through the magic of music. There was an infectious feeling of love, excitement and optimism as everyone left the theatre that night. After a year of planning and projects we are back! We have many new and exciting developments since last June. After debuting a special arrangement of “Defying Gravity” in last year’s concert, we released a music video to share the beautiful message with an even wider audience. In February, we ventured out to the Ice Plant Recording studios in Queens with three former Broadway Elphabas from Wicked to reimagine the song we know and love. You can find the video on our website at ArtsForAutism.net. In May, we joined Autism Speaks at MetLife Stadium for the Northern New Jersey Walk. We were thrilled to be there and show our support. Jacque and our talented musicians serenaded and entertained the walkers; it was wonderful to see firsthand the positive impact that music can have. Now it’s June, and here we are again at the Gershwin Theatre.

Through partnerships with state arts agencies, local leaders, other federal agencies, and the philanthropic sector, the Arts Endowment supports arts learning, affirms and celebrates America’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, and extends its work to promote equal access to the arts in every community across America. The National Endowment for the Arts is the only funder, public or private, to support the arts in all 50 states, U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. The agency awards more than $120 million annually with each grant dollar matched by up to nine dollars from other funding sources. Economic Impact of the Arts The arts generate more money to local and state economies than several other industries. According to data released by the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the arts and cultural industries contributed $804.2 billion to the U.S. economy in 2016, more than agriculture or transportation, and employed 5 million Americans. FUNDING THROUGH THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM: Fiscal Year 2018 marked the return of musical theater as its own discipline for grant award purposes.
