    Western & Southern Open Defending Champions Headline Doubles Fields CINCINNATI (Aug. 11, 2020) – Both the women’s and men’s defending champions are among the initial entries to play doubles at the 2020 Western & Southern Open, which will be held Aug. 20-28 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York. The 2019 WTA doubles winners – Lucie Hradecka and Andreja Klepac – are joined by the ATP Tour champions – Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek – to headline the early entries. Other notable entries on the women’s side include the teenage pairing of Cincinnati’s 18-year-old Caty McNally and 16-year-old Coco Gauff. Dubbed “McCoco,” the duo won a pair of WTA titles in 2019 – at Washington, D.C. and Luxembourg – and reached the US Open Round of 16. Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka, who finished 2019 atop the WTA Porsche Race to Shenzen as the season’s No. 1 team, are also in the field. Reigning Australian Open singles champion Sofia Kenin, a 21-year- old American, has entered with former Western & Southern Open singles and doubles winner Victoria Azarenka. The top two teams in the ATP Tour doubles race are entered in the men’s draw. The No. 1 team of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah is returning after reaching two straight Western & Southern Open finals. In shooting, 15-year-old Shardul Vihan had entered the final of the men’s Double Trap scheduled for later in the afternoon. In men’s golf, which began on Thursday, 17-year-old Aadil Bedi got off to a fine start with a 3-under 69 that placed him Tied-4th in the four-round competition, which will conclude on Sunday. There are four medals at stake, individual in men and women and the team events. Among girls, the best Indian was Diksha Dagar, whose 1-under 71, positioned her Tied 8th. Tennis – Rohan Bopanna and Divij enter men’s doubles final; Ankita takes bronze India’s top-seeded men’s doubles pair Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan entered the gold medal match of the men’s doubles event, beating Japan’s Kaito Uesugi and Sho Shimambukuro 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 in 72 minutes. The two pairs shared the first two sets and then the Indians won the Tie-breaker 10-8 to enter the final. They are now assured of silver medals. Ankita Raina lost a close semi-final to top seeded China’s Zhang Shuai and had to be content with a bronze medal in women’s tennis at the 18th Asian Games.

ADMINISTRATIVE LAW Administrative law covers the actions of the federal, state, and local governments, such as adjudicating, rulemaking, and regulatory enforcement. Sports law cases rarely involve administrative law, but one occurred in 2012. Salt Lake City Corp. v. Jordan River Restoration Network1 This conflict arose when the Jordan River Restoration Network opposed Salt Lake City’s efforts to validate municipal bonds to finance the construction of a regional sports complex.
