Collins, who was among 10 national finalists for the 2002 Hobey Baker Award as the top collegiate hockey player in the United States of America, represents the third individual in the program’s history to achieve All-America recognition. He joins a pair of former Bulldog defense- men – John Gruden (1993-94) and Andy Roach (1995-96 and 1996-97) to receive AHCA All-America accolades. Gruden earned first-team All- America honors while Roach was a two-time second-team pick. A 2001-02 All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) First-Team honoree, Collins not only earned the distinction of being the school’s first Hobey Baker Award finalist but also the first FSU skater to lead the CCHA in scoring by registering 40 points on 12 goals and 28 assists in 28 league games only this season. Overall this campaign, the Bulldog assistant captain posted a team-best 48 points overall with 15 goals and 33 assists in 36 outings.

    FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY Good News Items April 2013 Academic Affairs Extended and International Operations In an article published March 12, 2013, Ferris received an Honorable Mention from The Princeton Review as one of the Top Undergraduate Schools to Study Game Design for 2013. This was based on a survey The Princeton Review conducted in 2012-13 of 150 programs at institutions in the U.S.A. and Canada, offering video game design coursework and/or degrees. College of Business Graphic Media Management Professor Patrick Klarecki has been invited by the People's Republic of China Minister of Education and Printing Technology Association of China to assist in establishing a National selection process for a WorldSkills Print Media Technology Competitor. Klarecki will be in China April 1 - 12 and will visit various schools and universities in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. A Ferris team made up of seven students from multiple programs in COB and COT, and advised by Vel Pavlov of Kendall College, placed second in the College Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) held in Grand Rapids on March 9th. The Team achieved a higher ranking than the defending champions and have a possibility of moving to a higher level of the competition. Students in the Design Project Center in the Graphic Design Program won two Gold Addy's and one Silver Addy award at the 2013 West Michigan Addy Awards ceremony. The work was completed by the following 2012 alumni: Anne Sutton, Kate Dupon, Stephanie Demarest, Craig Cockerill, Sarah Todd, Lynn Overmyer, Scott Deca, Kathryn Bell, Samantha Martin, Ben Bialek.
