    PARA PUBLICACIÓN IMMEDIATA 3 de Junio del 2021 Contacte: Xochitl Velazque, (509) 663-7713 o [email protected] La industria de árboles frutales de Washington anuncia más de $ 1 millón en becas otorgadas esta primavera Wenatchee, Wash… El Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) hoy anuncia a sus becados del 2021. En total, la fundación está otorgando más de $1 millón a estudiantes criados en familias de la industria de árboles frutales en nombre de empleadores, familias y simpatizantes de la industria. 332 estudiantes comparten los premios de este año. 204 de los becados del 2021 están renovando sus becas con WAEF. 128 son nuevos beneficiarios de WAEF seleccionados esta primavera 87 de ellos son estudiantes del último año de secundaria este 2021. Los estudiantes que reciben los premios de este año son de los condados de Adams, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Franklin, Grant, Kittitas, Okanogan, Walla Walla y Yakima en el estado de Washington y condados de Hood River and Umatilla en Oregon. Las becas de WAEF se otorgan a estudiantes cuyas familias tienen enlaces con la industria de los árboles frutales. En la mayoría de los casos, los padres de los estudiantes son empleados en huertas y almacenamientos. Aproximadamente el 80% son estudiantes universitarios de primera generación. Beneficiarios de la beca WAEF 2021 (Por Condado) Adams County Angelica Hernandez, Othello, es la recipiente de la beca Washington Fruit & Produce. Hernandez se graduó de Othello High School. Ella es la hija de Silverio y Yolya Hernandez. Gabriela Rodriguez-Garcilazo, Othello, es la recipiente de la beca Allan Brothers. Rodriguez- Garcilazo se graduó de Othello High School.
