She defeated Leylah Annie Fernandez (Canada) Men's Doubles - Łukasz Kubot (Poland) AND Marcelo Melo (Brazil) Women's Doubles - Desirae Krawczyk (United States) AND Giuliana Olmos (Mexico) 5. 2nd leg of 1st Khelo India Winter Games 2020 concluded in Gulmarg (J & K). Around 900 players participated in the event which comprised of skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, ice hockey, snowshoeing, ice stock, snow rugby and snow baseball. 1st Leg of 1st Khelo India Winter Games 2020 was held in Ladakh at Leh. 6. Feifei has been named as mascot for 4th Asian Para Games to be held in Hangzhou (China) in 2022. It will feature 22 sports with Taekwondo and Para-Canoe as debutant games. 7. ICC Women's T20 Cricket World Cup (Australia) - Australia won its 5th Women's T20 World cup title, defeating India in Final. 10 Teams had participated. Australia's Beth Mooney named player of the tournament, who also scored most runs. 9. Indian Badminton Player P V Sindhu has been named ambassador of campaign “I am Badminton”, launched by Badminton World Federation (BWF). 10. Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka became highest-paid female athlete in sporting history, raking in $37.4 million in prize money and endorsements in past 12 months, according to Forbes. However, Osaka ranks only 29th overall among sports stars in terms of total earnings in past year. Sports Events (April 2020) - China will host third edition of Asian Youth Games in November 2021, as announced by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). 2021 World Games that were to be held in Birmingham in Alabama (US), are postponed to 2022. This is being done to avoid clash with Tokyo Olympics that have been postponed to 2021 amid COVID-19 Outbreak. 2021 World Athletics Championships are also pushed to 2022 for the same reason. Noted American Basketballer Kobe Bryant, who passed away recently, has been named into this year’s list of inductees into Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. International Weightlifting Federation suspended Malaysia & Thailand weightlifters from competing in Tokyo Olympics (Shifted to 2021). India will host Asian Boxing Championships for men and women in November-December 2020, assuming coronavirus pandemic to ve wiped out by then. BCCI suspended Indian Premier League 2020 indefinitely, amid COVID-19 Outbreak. BCCI also created a campaign named Team Mask Force, to spread awareness about wearing masks amid Pandemic. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won Formula One Esports Chinese Virtual Grand Prix championship. Due to Coronavirus pandemic, actual F1 races are not being held. The virtual races will run instead of each delayed Grand Prix, using official F1 2019 PC video game. India lost hosting rights of 2021 Men’s World Boxing Championship, after Boxing Federation of India (BFI) failed to pay host fee to International Boxing Association (AIBA), amounting approx 30 Crores INR. Sports Events (Mar 2020) - Indian Badminton Players Tasnim Mir and Mansi Singh won a bronze each in girls' singles Badminton event at Yonex Dutch Junior International 2020 in Haarlem (Netherlands). Indian Men's Hockey Team ranked 4th in International Hockey Federation (FIH) World Rankings 2020, as India's best ranking ever. Sports Authority of India and Hockey India announced first edition of Khelo India Women's Hockey League Under-21, to be held in 3 phases between March to November 2020, In New Delhi, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar. Badminton Asia Championships will be held in Manila (capital of Philippines), which were earlier scheduled to be held in Wuhan (China). It has been done Due to Novel Coronavirus outbreak in China. India Cricketer Shafali Verma became world number one batsman in Women’s T20I cricket. Shafali is 2nd Indian batswoman after Mithali Raj to top Women’s T20I rankings. Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) postponed 7th season of Commonwealth Youth Games from 2021 to 2023, following a clash with Tokyo Olympics, which were earlier postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic. Other major events postponed - Badminton World Championships (2020 to November 2021). Swimming world governing body Federation Internationale de Natation(FINA) rescheduled 2021 Fukuoka aquatics world championships to May 2022. World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned Indian discus thrower Sandeep Kumari for 4 years after failing a drug test.
