Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings), making all games worth three points. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. pComiNg ameS NCHC FaCts aNd Figures U g • For the first time all season, all eight NCHC teams are in action on the Friday, Oct. 20 same day as everyone plays a non-conference series Friday and Saturday. Colorado College at No. 17 New Hampshire, 7:00 p.m. ET NCHC teams are off to a 14-8-4 combined record in non-conference play Miami at Maine, 7:00 p.m. ET this season, with the .615 win percentage second among the six Division I Western Michigan at Michigan State, 7:05 p.m. ET conferences behind only the Big Ten (.618). Half of the NCHC’s eight non- Arizona State at Omaha, 7:07 p.m. CT conference series this weekend are with Hockey East foes. NCHC teams No. 8/7 Minnesota at No. 4/4 North Dakota, 7:37 p.m. CT are 2-4-0 against Hockey East so far. Two series are with Big Ten foes with No. 13/15 Boston College at No. 3/2 St. Cloud State, 7:37 p.m. CT NCHC teams 2-0-1 against the Big Ten so far. (page 9) Merrimack at No. 9/13 Minnesota Duluth, 7:37 p.m. CT • Three NCHC teams are ranked in the top four of both the USA Today/ Lake Superior State at No. 1/1 Denver, 7:05 p.m. MT (TV: Altitude) USA Hockey Magazine Poll and the USCHO.com Poll this week, the Saturday, Oct. 21 only conference to have more than one team in the top five. Defending national champion Denver remains No. 1 in both polls, including Colorado College at No. 17 New Hampshire, 7:00 p.m. ET unanimously in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, while St. Miami at Maine, 7:00 p.m. ET Cloud State is No. 2 and 3 in the polls and North Dakota is fourth in both. The Wildcats enter the NCAAs with a 15-game winning streak and they received an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship on Sunday afternoon by winning the 2009 Hockey East Championship Tournament with a 2-1 victory against sixth-ranked Boston College at the Whittemore Center. The Wildcats are making their fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tourney, and the ‘Cats have been hosts of a regional all four years. New Hampshire, which has won four consecutive Hockey East regular-season and tourney titles, advanced to the Frozen Four in both 2006 and 2008. The Eagles (22-8-5) enter the tournament as the number seven seed and will face WCHA foe Minnesota on Saturday March 14 at 4 p.m. at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
