Session of 2007 SENATE BILL No. 38 By Senators Kelly, Hensley and V. Schmidt 1-10 9 AN ACT concerning state parks; renaming state park no. 24; amending 10 K.S.A. 2006 Supp. 32-837 and repealing the existing section. 11 12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: 13 Section 1. K.S.A. 2005 Supp. 32-837 is hereby amended to read as 14 follows: 32-837. (a) The following parks have been designated as a part 15 of the state park system: (1) Kanopolis-Mushroom Rock state park in 16 Ellsworth county; (2) Cross Timbers state park at Toronto Lake in Wood- 17 son county; (3) Fall River state park in Greenwood county; (4) Cedar 18 Bluff state park in Trego county; (5) Tuttle Creek state park in 19 Pottawatomie and Riley counties; (6) Pomona state park in Osage county; 20 (7) Cheney state park in Kingman and Reno counties; (8) Lake Crawford 21 state park in Crawford county; (9) Lovewell state park in Jewell county; 22 (10) Lake Meade state park in Meade county; (11) Prairie Dog state park 23 in Norton county; (12) Webster state park in Rooks county; (13) Wilson 24 state park in Russell county; (14) Milford state park in Geary county; (15) 25 Lake Scott state park in Scott county; (16) Elk City state park in Mont- 26 gomery county; (17) Perry state park in Jefferson county; (18) Glen Elder 27 state park in Mitchell county; (19) El Dorado state park in Butler county; 28 (20) Eisenhower state park in Osage county; (21) Clinton state park in 29 Douglas and Shawnee counties; (22) Sand Hills state park in Reno county; 30 (23) Hillsdale state park in Miami county; and (24) state park no. 24 in 31 Shawnee county, which shall be given a permanent name to be deter- 32 mined by the legislature at a future date Kaw River state park in Shawnee 33 county. 34 (b) No state park named in subsection (a) shall be removed from the 35 state park system without legislative approval. 36 (c) The hours that Kaw River state park no. 24 in Shawnee county is 37 open to the public may be limited to those hours that parks of the city of 38 Topeka are open, except that such state park shall be open at all hours 39 for prescheduled events. 40 (d) The department of wildlife and parks shall report to the house 41 committee on tourism and parks and to the senate committee on natural 42 resources on or before March 1, 2005, regarding the terms and conditions 43 of the contract for the proposed donation of land to be used for state park SB 38 2 1 no. 24. 2 New Sec. 2. The name of state park no. 24 in Shawnee county is 3 hereby changed to Kaw River state park. 4 Sec. 3. K.S.A. 2006 Supp. 32-837 is hereby repealed. 5 Sec. 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its 6 publication in the statute book..

HOUSE BILL No. 2680
HOUSE BILL No. 2680 AN ACT concerning wildlife and parks; relating to violations of wildlife and parks laws; concerning cash bonds; changing the name of Toronto state park to Cross Timbers state park at Toronto Lake; amending K.S.A. 32-837 and 32-1050 and repealing the existing sections. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: Section 1. K.S.A. 32-1050 is hereby amended to read as follows: 32- 1050. (a) Whenever any person is issued a citation by a conservation officer or deputy conservation officer of the wildlife and parks conser- vation service or by any law enforcement officer for any of the violations described in subsection (b), the officer may require such person to give bond in the amount specified in subsection (b) for the offense for which the person was charged, which bond shall be subject to forfeiture if the person does not appear at the court at the time specified in the written citation. The bond shall be a cash bond and shall be payable using cash or legal tender identified as travelers checks, certified checks, cashiers checks, personal checks and postal money orders. The cash bond shall be taken in the following manner: The officer shall furnish the person charged with a stamped envelope addressed to the judge or clerk of the court named in the written citation and the person shall place in such envelope the amount of the bond, and in the presence of the officer shall deposit the same in the United States mail. After having complied with these requirements, the person charged need not sign the citation, but the officer shall note the amount of the bond mailed on the citation and shall give a copy of such citation to the person.
