Extrait de «One path to become a good declarer» by Bob Holmes (Bobh2 on BBO) «La clé de vos progrès, c’est la pratique. La pratique à la table, c’est bien, mais cela exige de passer en revue chacune des donnes jouées et de chercher comment vous auriez pu faire mieux .... C’est un peu difficile et j’ai une meilleure solution …. Plus rapide et plus sûre et c’est bien celle que j’ai suivie. Une fois que vous connaissez les techniques de base, il existe des dizaines de livres de tests que vous pouvez utiliser. Les plus utiles sont ceux qui proposent la donne sur une page avec les enchères et l’entame et vous demandent «à vous maintenant …» vous réfléchissez à la solution et quand vous avez vraiment cherché vous lisez la solution à la page suivante avec les explications de l’auteur. Je notais la date sur le diagramme et inscrivait le signe + ou – selon mon résultat. Une fois le livre terminé, je le mettais de côté pendant quelques temps, environ un an. Assez longtemps, car , en général, je me souviens bien des donnes lues. Après un laps de temps assez long, je reprenais le livre et relisais les donnes marquées d’un signe moins, en essayant de trouver la solution. La plus part du temps, je trouvais la solution soit parce que j’avais appris la technique soit parce que j’avais progressé. Parfois, je butais de nouveau sur quelques exercices et je reposais le livre pour une autre année. J’ai ainsi lu beaucoup de livres avec des quizz. Après avoir beaucoup progressé, je me suis tourné vers le livre de Terence Reese «Master Play»; Quel livre excellent!
