(because 10 and unders shouldn't be treated like adults) 10 and Under Tennis follows the same logic as other youth sports like baseball or soccer, which use kid-sized courts and kid-sized equipment. Kids learn to play baseball by first playing T-ball; they use shorter, lighter bats and larger, softer balls. Kids learning basketball shoot baskets with kid-sized balls on lowered backboards and they play soccer on smaller fields with smaller goals. Now with 10 and Under Tennis, balls bounce lower, don't move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Racquets are sized for small hands and courts are smaller and easier to cover. By using this format, the benefits are immediate and within a short time, kids are rallying, playing, and excited to keep playing. That means kids will have more fun and less frustration.

The American brothers did not want to say goodbye to the show so soon and dominated the second set, breaking Reyes-Varela serve and sending the encounter to a final super tie break, with a partial 4-6. The most spectacular moment of the day was experienced during this second set, with a rally in which all four players participated and which was defined in favor of the Mexicans, with a crossed volley by Santiago Gonzalez. The duel ended unexpectedly, when the Mexican couple took a 9-0 advantage in the tiebreaker, which ended with a partial 10-2. The audience roared a spectacular ovation for Santy and Micky from the stands, who won a cash prize of $20,000, but, above all, the people’s recognition on a day that will be marked in history. “It was an incredible experience. We had a great time on the court.

My guest today on the podcast is ATP touring professional Ashley Fisher. He is actually currently coaching and is up in Canada getting ready for a tournament there with his Doubles team. Ashley, just to give you guys a little background, has had a career high ranking in the ATP Doubles tour of number 19. He's played in the main draw of all four grand-slam tournaments, and he's got a best result in the Grand Slams of making it to the semi-finals and the U.S. Open. Ashley, thank you very much for sending some time with me and to answer some questions from my listeners. Ashley: Your welcome, Ian. Good evening. Ian: Well, let's start things off by telling myself, my listeners a little bit more about yourself. I just gave a kind of a really brief overview of what you've done so far, but you're a Doubles specialist, you're from Australia, tell us a little bit more about your background as a player. Ashley: Well I grew up playing Junior tennis in Australia until I was eighteen years of age at which point I moved over to the U.S.

Rafter was the top pick in the 2004 WTT Player Draft held today via teleconference from WTT League Headquarters in New York City. He joins an impressive lineup of tennis stars, incl uding WTT National Ambassador Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Martina Navratilova, Monica Seles, Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova, who will take to the courts this summer when the WTT Pro League presented by ADT Security Services gets underway.     The Physics of Tennis Lesson 4: Energy changes when a ball interacts with different surfaces Unit Overview: In this unit students continue to develop understanding of what can be at first glance a complicated system, the game of tennis. In this activity we have taken two components of the game of tennis, the ball and court, to see if we can model the interactions between them. This activity focuses on the energy interactions between ball and court. Objectives: Students will be able to- • Describe what forces interact when the ball hits a surface. • Understand what changes occur when potential and kinetic energy conversion is taking place within a system. At the high school level students should include connections to the concept of “work =FxD” and calculations of Ek = ½ 2 mv and Ep =mgh according to the conservation of energy principal. • Identify the types of energy used in this system. (restricted to potential & kinetic energy) • Comparative relative energy losses for typical court compositions.
