Indian Premier League 2019
VVS LAXMAN Published 3.4.19 The last ten days have reiterated just how significant a place the Indian Premier League has carved for itself on the crickeng landscape. Spectacular acon and stunning performances have brought the tournament to life right from the beginning, and I expect the next six weeks to be no less gripping. From our point of view, I am delighted at how well Hyderabad have bounced back from defeat in our opening match, against Kolkata. Even in that game, we were in control ll the end of the 17th over of the chase, but Andre Russell took it away from us with brilliant ball-striking. Even though I was in the opposion dugout, I couldn’t help but marvel at how he snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The beauty of our franchise is that the shoulders never droop, the heads never drop. There is too much experience, quality and class among the playing group for that to happen. As members of the support staff, our endeavour is to keep the players in a good mental space. But eventually, it is the players who have to deliver on the park, and that’s what they have done in the last two games. David Warner has been outstanding. There is lile sign that he has been out of internaonal cricket for a year. His work ethics are exemplary, and I can see the hunger and desire in his eyes. He is striking the ball as beaufully as ever, and there is a calmness about him that is infecous. -

Dr. Gokaraju Gangaraju Book
It gives me immense pleasure to inform that Dr. Gokaraju Gangaraju has done exemplary service to Andhra Cricket Association. I know Dr. Gangaraju and his father and both of them are people of noble heart. They are always keen to serve the society. Recently I inaugurated the picturesque twin grounds at Mulapadu in Krishna District. I also inaugurated the first- ever historical Test match at Visakhapatnam. After taking a look at the grounds and other infrastructure in different districts of A.P, I am thrilled by the dedicated efforts put in by Dr. Gangaraju and his team. I requested Dr. Gangaraju to give a proposal for developing adventure sports on the hillocks of Mulapadu and other sports infrastructure across the State. Top officials of BCCI, recognising his services made him the Vice President of BCCI. I would like to appreciate Dr. Gangaraju, his team of office bearers and members of ACA, who stood by him in all his endeavours in moulding ACA as a role model association in the country. 1 1 I take it as honour to inform that Andhra Cricket Association, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Gokaraju Gangaraju, has made tremendous progress in terms of development of game and infrastructure across the state of AP. I have been watching Dr. Gangaraju in BCCI meetings. He comes to the meetings with one agenda - to seek facilities to ACA, demand postings for ACA members in sub committees of BCCI and more number of international matches for the association. He always sought the coveted Test status to Dr. Y.S.R. -

Report of the City Solicitor to the meeting of the full Council to be held on Tuesday 14 January 2020 L Subject: HONORARY FREEMEN OF THE CITY Summary statement: The subject of this report is the legal framework for admission to the Roll of Honorary Freemen of the City Parveen Akhtar City Solicitor Phone: 01274 433696 E-mail: [email protected] 1 SUMMARY On July 14th 2019 the England Men’s cricket squad scooped victory at the Cricket World Cup final. The final and dramatic match was watched by billions across the world. Huge numbers of cricket fans across the Bradford District were also glued to the media coverage, not least because of the involvement of two Bradfordians, Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid in the victory. This report proposes that Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid be admitted to “The Roll of Honorary Freemen of the City”. This honour would recognise their outstanding contribution on the field of cricket but also their work to inspire generations of sports men and women, and their connection to this City. 2 BACKGROUND 2.1 The ‘Roll of Honorary Freemen of the City” was created in the late nineteenth century. The first name admitted to the roll was that of Sir Henry Mitchell, a former Lord Mayor, philanthropist and mill owner. Since that time other famous Bradfordians such as J.B. Priestley, Barbara Castle and David Hockney have been admitted to the roll. 2.2 The criteria for admission to the roll are that the person should have demonstrated distinguished and recent service, or made a significant beneficial and noteworthy contribution to the District or secured significant benefit to the District.
