FEATURES • Three-Dimensional Protection • Connectors are Pre-Assembled: Simply Plug Into • Fast Response Harness • Proven False-Alarm Immunity • Modular • Automatically Resets • Sensor Responds Within Half A Second to an • Flexible Interface—Can be Mixed with Thermal Fire Explosive Fire Detectors • Wide Temperature Range • Small Space Claim • Shock and Vibration Resistant • Simple to Install using Mounting Bracket Kit • Sensor Housing is Rugged Nickel Plated Cast Aluminum DESCRIPTION The Kidde® IR-1 operates by sensing two separate bands of energy. A fire signal is generated when the sensors see a fire fueled by gasoline, diesel, hydro- gen, oils (including hydraulic), lubricants, CNG, LNG, LPG, methanol, and other fuels or combustibles. This sig- nal is transmitted into the KVS-2020 Control Panel or the EM-1 Expansion Module. The fire sensor has a 90° solid cone field-of-view. It has a response time to explosive of 0.5 seconds maxi- mum. The model IR-1 fire sensor has a detection thresh- old of three feet for a one square foot pan fire fueled by gasoline, diesel, or methanol. The fire sensor is immune to false alarms from , flashlights, , vehicle headlights, incandescent lights (100 W at 2 inches), and welding arcs (30 inches). Each fire sensor has a green status light in the center of its front surface. The status light is illuminated when the TECHNICAL DATA fire sensor has electrical power. The status light will blink 1. Sensor temperature range -40°F (-40°C) to 257°F after the sensor has responded to a fire. The blinking will (125°C). not stop until power to the sensor has been cycled. 2. Enclosure rating NEMA 4X. 3. Connector J1 to mate with three-way Packard Elec- The IR-1 sensor detection threshold (range) in feet is as tric Weather Pack tower P/N 1201-5793.
