Review Structure: Clarification on phase descriptions: 1. Research criteria: Criteria for devices research developed by Software Factory and Malaria Consortium. 2. Research: actual research for devices by Software Factory 3. Procurement: procurement of selected devices by Software Factory on behalf of Malaria Consortium. 4. Evaluation Criteria: criteria for evaluating devices during field test; developed by Software Factory and Malaria Consortium. 5. Field test: actual in the field test carried out on accordance with evaluation criteria. Software Factory and Malaria Consortium will participate in field test. 6. Review of field test: review of field test and suggestion/ranking of devices. - Page 4 of 80 - Customer: Malaria Consortium Version: 1.0 Project: Laptop Review (Smartphones) Date: 22.09.2010 Author(s): Software Factory This document is confidential Malaria Consortium and Software Factory. © Software Factory 2010. 1.2 Research Criteria Each laptop will be evaluated according to pre-defined criteria. The evaluation matrix will be the framework for this and is shown below: Manufacturer Model Device Qualitative Points Weight Criteria Detail/amount impression (1-5) (1-5) Value Cost Int’l (local) Operating System User Friendliness *1 Durability/sturdiness Battery life Weight Screen type *2 Data transmission *3 Ability to show video Provision for user- specific apps *1 how easy is it to turn on the device? How big is mouse pad? Touch-screen? Total *2 Angles viewable + Screen quality and type *3 What provisions does the device have for transmitting data? Each device will be evaluated according to the above matrix. 1.2.1 Detail/amount The detail/amount is the quantitative detail of the device. 1.2.2 Qualitative impression The Qualitative impression is the detail of the device which cannot be captured quantitatively. 1.2.3 Points Points will be used to evaluate each criterion based on a relative scale of the devices included in the survey. The relative scale will use the best and poorest device as the benchmarks for indexing the top and bottom of the scale. 1.2.4 Weight Weight represents the importance of each criterion. 1 is not important, 5 is very important. - Page 5 of 80 - Customer: Malaria Consortium Version: 1.0 Project: Laptop Review (Smartphones) Date: 22.09.2010 Author(s): Software Factory This document is confidential Malaria Consortium and Software Factory. © Software Factory 2010. 1.2.5 Value Value represents the total value of each criterion. Value is calculated as points multiplied by weight. Total value is total value for the laptop. 1.2.6 Cost Cost will feature International price/cost according
