Simon is an internationally recognized author, lecturer, and consultant on terrorism and political violence. He is president of Political Risk Assessment Company, Inc., and a visiting lecturer in the Department of Political Science at UCLA. He is the author of two critically acclaimed books on terrorism, The Terrorist Trap: America’s Experience with Terrorism and Lone Wolf Terrorism: Understanding the Growing Threat. His writings on terrorism, political violence, and political risk have appeared in many publications, including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Foreign Policy, Jane’s Intelligence Review, and the New York Times. A former RAND analyst, Dr. Simon has conducted research and analysis on terrorism for more than thirty years. Dr. Simon is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Terrorism and Political Violence. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.A. in Political Science from Indiana University, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Southern California. ARIZONA COUNTER TERRORISM INFORMATION CENTER The Arizona Fusion Center, also known as the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC), is a joint effort between the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Arizona Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation and other participating agencies. To support the Arizona homeland security effort the Arizona Fusion Center was established and became operational in October of 2004. The Center operates on a 24/7 basis, providing both intelligence, investigative and technical support to state, local, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies as well as other agencies critical to Arizona and the country’s homeland security efforts. The students are discussing the subject with their teacher, Matt Griffiths, and their behavioral intervention technicians as part of a new behavioral health program piloted by the Special Services Division. Known as the Green Zone, this classroom is a safe and highly supportive environment where identified students with behavior management issues can go when they feel overwhelmed. The Green Zone is a pilot partnership between Lindsay Unified and Special Service’s growing Behavioral Health Services program.
