The first half kicked of 5 minutes late with tributes to the Late Great Mr Bobby Geddes and the Anzacs on the day before Anzac Day. The game was scrapie early on and on 5 minutes the ball broke to Wayne Buzzer Gordon who is in fine form in front of goal and with the young 17 year old stand in Goal Keeper James Foster advancing Buzzer finished with a faint toe pock into the far right corner of the nett 1-0 Mornington. The first half was a tack tickle battle between two very different styles of Football trying to be played in the free flowing style that Mornington try to play and the Big Lump up Front that Langwarrin seem to employ year in year out, then on 35th minute mark a loose ball broke in the midfield and a robust tackle involving Mornington’s Paul McEvoy and Langwarrin’s defender Alex Van Heerwarden resulted with the intervention of the linesman a straight red card to Paul McEvoy and following a Malay between both sides also resulted in Langwarrin’s midfielder Sam Scott being sent off for a second yellow card effence after being booked for two previous poor challenges. The first half finished 1-0 to Mornington with some questions being asked of the referee Harry Milas regarding his handling of the game in the first 45 minutes. Senior Team Review Vs Langwarrin / Anzac Match – continued Club News The second half set off in much of the same style from both teams but with Langwarrin seaming to get a grip on the game better with just there 10 men on the park and on 65th minute a push from behind from Morningto n defender Steve Elliott on Caleb Nicholas resulted in a penalty to Langwarrin which was tucked away with aplom by Caleb himself to level the scores 1-1. The game went from end to end with both sides trying to snatch a winner with chances falling to Wayne Buzzer Gordon on the 75th minute and a fine save was made by James Foster, then a half chance On the 86 th minute and a ball bouncing around the Langy box resulted in a own goal of Langwarrin defender Andy McIntyre to give Mornington a 2-1 lead with minutes remaining on the clock. Langwarrin went on the hunt for a late winner and if it wasn’t for two outstanding saves from Kris McEvoy in the dying seconds of the game Langwarrin would of gone away with a point from Dallas Brooks Park. The Game finished 2-1 with the Langwarrin coaching staff enquiring with referee Harry Milas two his credentials and his ability to ref a game of such magnitude.
